I wanted to point out some of the top variables Google throws into it's algorithm. Many of you probably have seen this a Ka'Jillion Times so forgive me for the redundancy. To others this may be useful when you are designing your website. Meta Title Meta Description Meta keywords ALT TAGS!!! Header Tags Main Body of Text with -- Key Words hint hint -- Bold or highlighted areas - Keywords again - Internal Links (deep Internal Links using relavant anchor text) External Links Quality of the site the link is on Link anchor text (Links pointing to the website) Relevance of the link Page Rank of the page the link is on Number of other links on the page These variables contribute to search engine placements.
Thanks for this. What sort of weighting does bold/ highlighted areas hold? Someone told me that it doesn't really matter but I still do it just in case.
pretty true, except for #3 - in Google it really doesn't matter, keywords are trivial, but it works for other search engines namely meta search engines.
tell me something new man....moreover meta keywords are no longer important from Google's point of view
There is also speculation that the age of the domain linking may be a factor, though it can be argued that younger domains are less of an "authority" while older domains are more likely to be trusted. Also, it is better to gain links gradually over time rather than all at once.
Would you put this in your site? Or are you saying because it's no big deal you don't worry about it.
Content is also very important for serps because it what google uses to see if your site is important for that keyword or not
I just wanted to whip out some of the flavors google is looking for. Of course their is always more. But this list is what we have control over. As for meta.... I guess it's just a preference of the webmaster
