Yeah, I think that $250 is quite good for a starter :)

    Heyy,

I'm only 13 but I am starting a group of businesses, these are -

    1. A Web, Graphic and Print Design business.
    2. A private online advertising group.
    3. A domain and web host.
    4. An affiliate marketing group.

I am launching these later this month. Down the track I wish to expand into -

    1. A budget ISP and telecommunications company.
    2. A large-scale software company.
    3. A real estate and stock market investment corporation.
    4. A bank or credit-union
    5. A transport company

These five are very distant goals but one I hope to achieve within the next 10 to 15 years.

Problem with being a kid, is that everyone underestimates you.

On Melbourne Cup Day, I made a web application and intranet, and took my laptop to school and all my friends placed bets on horses. Of course, no adults knew of this or they would have me in major trouble.

I have run very successful raffles and auctions for my sports club.

Yet still people think you aren't capable of managing a business.

Another problem is finances, there is no way anybody who knew my age would put their money in my hands, not even my parents will. Yet I have had several online friends who have trusted me with their hard earned cash and recieved it back in full.

Sorry for ranting on, but I think that adults (especially successful ones) underestimate our capability to run a business and not spend every cent on music and chocolate (but it would be nice).

    Alex.

I completely agree, Alex! Why is it that people who've never met us but only no us from our username would trust us with their money yet not even our parents will.

I'm 14 (practically 15) and I think that kids are grossly underestimated in terms of technical ability and work ethic(s).

I run a semi-big forum (been open for a mere 4 weeks, and has 900 posts + 40 members on no advertising), and I feel that the major problem is not interest, but time. Balancing school and an Internet business, not to mention a normal business which I run and other web sites, is a delicate task.

To be honnest, I was surprised when I read this thread and learned that there are so many young people here on DP. Everyone seems to be so mature and so successful. Really, don't under estimate young people!

Anyway, its nice to know that there are so many talented young people around. Our future will depend on them!

I'm not surprise, I remember watching Ripley's believe it or not, there was a boy wonder at the age of ten is now working at Microsoft. He and his family were the first one to have a micro chip implanted on them if I'm not mistaken. I watched the episode two years ago so the boy is probably 12 or 13. Just amazing :0
