my heart bleeds. Probaby 90% of people here don't make anywhere that ammount, so well done on making us all feel stupid
Well my daily Adsense average is down 33% in December, compared to the prior two months. The main reason for me is that the eCPM is way off from what it has been historically for several years. I would say the target area change may be partly to blame since my earnings dropped around the time that started. However, it could also be that advertisers have more choices and thus the per click rates are getting bid down. But this is all speculation. Bottom line is that I'm glad that I started diversifying my advertising in October. I added a lot of networks and now Adsense is a lot smaller percentage in my total earnings. I think the 33% drop in Adsense amounts to a 2% drop in total earnings, and since some of the other networks are peaking right now, its not an isssue. ValueClickMedia is way up this month, and I've also added an alternative for a single Adsense spot that is producing very well and is CPM vs. CPC. That network is Peer39. So my advice is diversify, diversify, diversify... then it won't kill you if one network is having a slow day, month, or year.
Yeah, I've seen some major decreases in traffic during the last two weeks. I suppose people are getting more into celebration mood rather than internet browsing ... lets see if its going to improve January ... Venetsian.
The holiday season is bad every year (I've been with Google Adsense since 2003). Some Adwords advertisers, I believe, are dropping out until after the new year, some are running out of annual advertising budget, and some just aren't focusing on business during the holidays. Competition for keywords has slacked off as a result. Having said the above, it seems to be a little worse this year than before. It could be partially due to smart-pricing but it is moe likely a result of the general slowdown in the economy and smaller advertising budgets that is affecting all segments of the advertising industry. I hope that none of it is due to Google deciding to take a bigger cut of the pie, at our expense.
December is quite a bad time for me too, too many holidays : )) my sites get rubbish traffic on weekends and public holidays. ** People SURF alot at work !!
I've had the lowest day earnings in 3 months. Things started to dip more sharply the last few days. I DO NOT mean this in a bad way, but I am glad to hear others are experiencing this. That means that it's not just my sites alone having this dip in income this month. Now I just WISH that adsense would issue payments for November so I can actually HAVE a Chrismas ! Probably a pipe dream though...........
