Deadlines can certainly help people who are busy, but sometimes having a deadline is detrimental to the contest holder as well, because they are limiting the number of entries they will receive. Yeah, possibly a good idea to include one but for most designers a design of this standard won't take over a few hour / half a day max so you will be able to enter regardless of your workload.
Here is my entry. It's my VERY first design I've done on DP, please let me know what you think :] Feedback greatly appreciated! Thanks, julia.b
Sorry I was unexpectedly away this weekend. I have decided that based upon the PM's that I have had is there are more entries to come and are waiting for color instructions etc from me. I am going to extend this competition once again to make it fair for all. The colour scheme should reflect the nature of the product. Natural, serene (not somber). Grass, leaves, nature etc would all be representative of the type place that the memorials are used in. Natural burial sites where eco friendly coffins are used as well as natural stone memorials are usually woodlands, countryside etc. Tallum, your design looks neat and quite sharp but too somber and grey. Good but not right for this project I am afraid. Thank you so much for entering though. emzdesign, again, a nice design (very similar to another site I have) but not right for this. You have feature a stone memorial not of the type that the site sells and just a bit on the stark side for me I'm afraid. Thanks for entering. austin-G, you have made good use of the images but the design is just not doing it for me I am afraid. It's a bit somber and grey and I am not keen on the banner design. Thanks for entering and I hope you don't think I'm harsh. raja, this is my favourite so far. It's a bit more upbeat and image friendly. I don't like the use of a type of stone in the header that the site does not sell. I don't like the flowers (I like the IDEA of flowers but not those ones!) Can you make the banner with real grass and flowers and a type of stone that the site does sell? julia.b, I like your ideas, but once again, it's too grey and oppressive. The site is trying to convey nature and natural burials (well, memorial stones for natural burials to be more precise) a bit more I guess. Thanks for entering. I'm honored to have your first entry on DP on my thread! If anyone wants to change their design or are still working on theirs, I have have a link to a site that features all natural burial grounds in the UK - you might want to have a look and see the sort of places that they are. anbg.co.uk/members.html Once again, sorry for the confusion over the twice extended end date for this. I was unexpectedly away at the weekend and it couldn't be helped. The end date for this is now 7th Feb 4pm GMT
Here's my new entry: I livened up the colours a bit, and added a nice picture in at the bottom. I can add some boxes or whatever in and around the text part if you like, I just wasn't sure what you preferred. Feedback appreciated, hope you like it! thanks, julia.b
@noobdesigner, yes, this comp is still very much alive. Reminder that this finishes at 4pm GMT Saturday afternoon (7th) julia.b, It's better but it's still not right for what I need I am afraid. I hope this doesn't discourage you from entering other comps - your design is not bad - just not what I need right now k504, I like it and think the design is nice but it's not right for this project (it looks very similar to another one of my sites - did you take a peek??) Thanks for entering design_nikki, I am looking forward to your entry. Raja, I haven't seen your revised version yet - I am looking forward to it. Thanks so much for your interest everyone.
Slightly change make it more web2.0 feel, Gradient logo and navigation and change the background image used. Thanks.
design_nikki has asked me to extend as she is working on her entry and I am still waiting for Raja's revision. Any late comers you have a couple of extra hours to complete!
