So tell me what has to be changed in the design I've made ... does the top header suit u ?? the yellow one

Please allow me to intervene, because I am following this thread closely and I don't wanna come back each time El Mariachi has what it looks to me like random questions.
So, El Mariachi, your design lacks professionalism because:

- you used a ton of different fonts
- the ton of fonts you used is quite uninspired, the text looks childish in some sections, while horror-type in others. This design requires clean, more business-like fonts, it's a shopping venue, not a theme park
- your menu looks worse than the one the contest holder already has (and he wants that changed, so go figure)
- your photo is stretched out which makes it look awful
- the colors, the arrangement, the shadows -- all of these look very basic, I think you should study a bit the web 2.0 designs and tutorials around the web

Please don't take it personal, I am just trying to give you a hand. If you want, I can give you a whole list of inspiring websites which can help you improve your design skills.

Hi All,

I have just received a simple entry, although the contestant has not completed all the aspects but he/she has just tried to address the issue in a very simple but stylish manner. So far the best entry. Im sure you all can take this as an inspiration and come out with some thing cool.



I am looking forward to some more entries with similar styles.

 

Legend: I will get back to you with some feedback, meanwhile I think the designs I am posting now are more close to the quality Im expecting, we can concentrate on the menu after finalising the main banner area. What do u say?

Hi Mr Legend,

Sorry for the delay with the feedback. Quite a good entry but not quite there quiet there, reasons are not really that big,
1) The colours do not go with the rest of the page. If you can see the other designs posted by myself and mihai the designs are in sync with the rest of the page.
2) Top Sign Up bar, is much better, I think having simple textual links will look even better.
3) Menu: I Love it its very good but colour seems to be the only problem. Perhaps a drop down feature will make it complete.
4) Search bar: I think we can use the original search bar.
5) Very good effort. However the 2 entries that I posted with the woman and the next with the man have greater impact. Check http://tinyurl.com/6k4me2k
6) I think we can make the subscribe box a part of it like in point 5.

I can see a great potential in your designs, I wouldn't dismiss your entries and I'm sure you have a very good chance in this contest.

Thanks for the entry. I am not sure how this design is going to fit in with the rest of the website. Plus the design style is very 90's and there are no web 2.0 styles or gradients used. Please check out the entry I have posted and Mihai's entry for inspiration.

The menu looks great
I am not too sure about the band just below it, which encapsulates the search bar.
Lets get rid of the band and keep the search bar as it was in the originals.
Logo: please don't work on the logo we will have a new competition for the logo.
Social icons on the top dont look trendy, try something sleek.
I like your attempt on the banner and subscribe but perhaps you can gel the two together like the following
