in the last days i got this email from WB regarding the slow loading ads

One of the concerns we’ve heard from many of you has been the slow loading times of our widgets. We really appreciate your feedback and comments in helping us improve in this area. So, today we addressed this issue by rolling out new code that ultimately delivers faster loading widgets.

It is very important to note that this update will require action on your part. You will need to update code of your existing widgets for the speedier load times to take affect on your site, blog or network. Know that changing the code will not impact earnings for any of your widgets.

Here are the two steps you’ll need to follow:

    1. Sign-in to http://widgetbucks.com and go to My Widgets
    2. For each active widget, simply edit and re-copy the code block into your site or blog (the same steps you went through when you created the widgets originally)

i think that is good and it means they r improving with time
if they really would pay i would shif all my websites to advertise WB

but also every day we have more sites and more www users and more advertisers
hence the entire "adsense cake" is growing.
as adwords is more and more optimized/geo targeted and channel targeted, it will however become more and more demanding for web publishers to meet the ever increasing quality standards of adsense oriented-successful web publisher.
low quality and MFA sites may earn less
and larger / high quality content sites more

there only can be 10 sites among top 10 serps and only the top 10 sites in a keyword get the real traffic and thus the real adsense $!
those who manage to maintain or fulfill the NEEDS of surfers and provide the content attracting the ever increasing www-user-volume will definitely earn much more - at the expense of those having attempted to make easy money simply based on keywords without offering true unique content.

this month I may earn about 127% more - with 2 full adsense days to go - than as i did one year ago ... hence the evidence of the opposite of your hypothesis above.

more unique quality content, better adsense optimization, better server, better SEO = more success continuously as the "www-cake" grows, the share of the top-10 sites in a keyword GROWS as well.

this is NOT my opinion - but my real life facts I have experienced during the past 10,5 yrs of full time web publishing oon one single site.

looking at a fixed number of top 10 serps site on a keyword - there is also a growing number of adwords users - but a FIX number of ad-slots ( ad-unites multiplied by actual slots for individual advertisers ) available. hence the adword users may have to bid highe rto get one of the limited page-placements on a fixed number of sites. top 10 sites means always 10 sites on a standard Google result page and that is where most traffic goes. hence there are maximum
    10x 3 ad units x (maximum is wide skyscraper with 5 ad-slots = 15 total ad-slots) 5 ad-slots = total 45 adslots MAX on a single page

hence the top 10 SERPS pages have a fixed global number of 45 advertisers at any time - no matter how much the www-cake grows.
this would be the absolute max numbe rof advertisers allowed on all 10 top-10 G results combined
if - as typical - webmasters offer less than the maximum ad-units or ad-slots by having smaller adunits displayed, then the available number of advertising slots is even lower and thus the competing adword-bidding process even tougher to get into a top-10 page ad-slot.

They don't pay a flat rate of .4 cents per click.
