Stupidest thing I ever read.......a business plan is important, a business model is importnat....a business name is hardly important at all........a good business becomes a brand name, choosing a name that is brandable does not make a business successfull. Facebook did not do so well because of its name!

I disagree with you Bannanaman, I think choosing a name is very important and should be part of your business plan. Imagine if facebook had been called FriendsOfTheWorldOnline.... not so easy to brand eh? I guarantee you a lot of consideration went into the name when facebook was just an idea (same with myspace) Your business plan & strategy should definately include the naming of your business.

The business plan needs to come before the name, but the name is still important in reflecting the kind of business you are and how you'll be remembered. Ultimately you need to have the goods to back up the name and the plan or all your brainstorming is for naught. Sometimes it's best not to overthink these things... you'll either change it if it doesn't work or succeed despite your name -- that's what people do, why not businesses?!
