13000 INR would be enough for cheap stay
25,000 INR for Normal Stylish Stay
and if u wanna go for luxury 50,000 INR would be less

I haven't been to India, but I know of a fact that the cost of living there is quite cheap. Having a pocket money of 500$ in a third world country would be enough. You can find lots of tips on wikitravel.org/en/India. Check that out, it's helpful!

People that not live in India has very wrong misconception that India is cheap. But let me tell you it is not the case with metro cities.

For comparison sake, here is some rough prices for Mumbai

    1. Beer in Hotel costs you anything between US$5 to $10. However, if you buy it from shop than the cost will be half.

    2. Three star twin sharing Room will costs around $20 to $50 per day. Five star usually charge double than the three star.

However, If you look and inquire with proper person then you will get what you want within your budget.

    Welcome to India.

12 Days : Either in Mumbai or Bangalore cost as follows

    Accomodation :
Medium : 5000 INR per day - 100$ per day
Economy : 2500 INR per day - 50$ per day

    Food :
Medium : 500 INR per day - 10$ per day
Economy : 250 INR per day - 5$ per day
This include two meals (day and night + evening snacks + tea + refreshments etc also can include breakfast)
But if your accomodation is inclusive of breakfast then you can save utpo 1$ per day

    Transportation :
    Daily Car rental
    Medium : 1500 INR rental car (8 hrs 80kms ) - 30$ per day
    Economy : 800 INR rental car (8 hrs 80kms) - 15$ per day

Or if you use normal Train and Bus then you can travel upto 30kms just for 2$
But its not reliable and convenient for foreigners, its very crowded and fussy during peak times .
    Trains are only in Mumbai
Buses can be cheaper and good during off hours but not during peak hours .

There are also Taxi services and Meru cabs available

MERU and EASY CABS are best they are like normal CABS a bit economical they are TAXI's in Singapore.
THEY ARE Air conditioned, You need to call them 1hr to 2hr prior and they will be there to pick you up

    080 4422 4422 MERU CABS in Bangalore
    022 4422 4422 MERU CABS in Mumbai

They are readily available in DAY TIME but not easily during NIGHT TIME after 12am upto 5am
They charge 9 to 10$ for 30kms in Mumbai, Very convenient
They charge 15 t0 20$ for 30kms in Bangalore, Little expensive rates compared to mumbai

Cost is different in different cities in India.
Some cities are costly while others are cheapest.
Also rent of hotels and house are also different.

People are of the misconception that everything is cheap in India. Its not! There are some things that are costlier than what you would pay in the US.

The beauty is that you can be in a place where you would spend 10K dollars. Step out of the building and you will be in a place where you find people who wouldn't be in a position to give you change for $100. Sad, but true.

    Thats how the world is.

There is a part of the world where people starve to death of malnutrition and there is this other economically swelled part where people spend $$$$ on diet pills in order to get fit and control their appetite.

What is diet? Nutrition? Appetite? calories for people in Zimbabwe and Congo ????
