lolkat: I'll wait, I'm not choosing a winner until the deadline.

katesrobyn: thanks for the adjustments. the colors made it more "alive" and the horse looks like a horse now :)

MantisArt: The design style of the animals is not quite what I'm looking for. They're very cute though, I like the way they all look happy and all integrate well in the "enviroment". Maybe having mokeys in the design is not a very good idea, people might be scares of leaving their dogs in a hotel with monkeys :D

For the animals, I was looking for something more like these:
    http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-illustration-5816812-puppy-and-kitten.php
    http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-illustration-7262236-set-of-small-dogs.php

The palm trees could be more like these:
    http://www.dreamstime.com/royalty-f...cal-palm-trees-isolated-on-white-image5257879

You can use images from stock vector sites as long as they're not too expensive.

I'm new to this contest thing. Some contestants are sending me their entries via PM. Is that OK or all the designs should be posted here?

    - Amazing job with the animals! Did you draw them yourself or are they from stock vector?
    - Since the business name is "Paraíso Animal", the word "Animal" should have the same emphasis as the word "Paraíso", right now it's much smaller.
    - Is there any way of creating an enviroment for the animals, one that gives the image of a paradisiac spot in the contryside (we have palmt rees in the countryside here in Brazil)? Maybe adding a hammock between the palmtrees and putting the dog and the cat sitting or laying n the hammock. Something to give the idea that the animals are on vacation, relaxing and enjoying themselves. Their facial expressions are good, no need to change that.

    Again, great job so far.

a slight revision. I may not have time to do a version with a hammock before the deadline. I did draw those animals myself, by the way.

THE DEADLINE WILL BE EXTENDED UNTIL THURSDAY, AUGUST 28
In my first post I said that "We reserve the right to extend the deadline for a maximum of 15 days", so I'm extending it for a few days now.

lolkat: the background gave more life to the design, nice. I have decided to extend the deadline to give you and the other new contestants an opportunity to have some more feedback and, if possible, adjust your designs so they can get closer to what I need. I'd say your design is in the top 2. If you want to, now you have time to do a version with the hammock. I'd like to see that very much. I guess the palm trees would have to "come forward" a bit and have some colors (right now, they're only "shadows" in the background), so the hammock can be attatched to them. Also, it would be nice to see a version with another type of font. Very nice job so far.

suke: nice job overall. The animals have a lot of personality. Our priority are dogs, so the horse should be more in the background and the dog more in the foreground. Maybe add another dog since there's a lot of space in the scenario. Maybe a small one. I personally liked the angry cat and the "stoned" horse :D, gave me a good laugh, but I'm not sure the more conservative/traditional customers will like it. So, if possible, please remove the shades from the horse and make the cat smiling. The font is a little too common, maybe using different font would make it better.

This competition is tight. Right now the entries that are closer to what I'm looking for are kÖe's (a new revision that he will post here as soon as it's finished), lolkat's and suke's (not necessarily in that order). I'm waiting for the next revision of your designs. Thank you for all the good work so far.

suke: I've noticed you changed the illustration style of the characters and they're now more similar to the samples I provided (added black outlines, reduced some of the "grafitti style shading", etc). Great work, this version has evolved a lot compared to the last one and the overall design is close to what I'm looking for. The paw was also a nice touch. Requests:
    * The big dog with the bone and the horse are good, if you could make the dog in the hammock look a bit less mixer-breed (I personally like mixed-breed dogs and have three of them, but some of the"stuck-up" customers have prejudice against them). The character is great, I really like him, I'm just thinking about pleasing all kinds of potential customers.
    * The bird should look a bit more friendly and relaxed, he looks a bit agitated/nervous, like he's going to bite someone :) Maybe also make him a little smaller (just a little).
    * The overall design of the cat is nice but his facial lines/expressions are not as clear as the other animals, it would be good to make him a little more expressive (and happier).
    * The design looks very alive and cheerful because of all the elements (wich are very well integrated with each other) and colors, but there's a little bit "too much". Don't change it too much because it's good, maybe just make the hammock orange (similar to the text), make the cat's ball green or orange and remove the hole in the grass. That will probably reduce the color variety e bit and make the overal design "smoother" (not too smooth though, or it will loose it's vivacity).
    * The text needs a little more emphasis in relation to the other elements of the logo, but maybe reducing the color variety a bit and "smoothing" the design as in the above paragraph will do that on it's own without any changes being made to the text.

Sorry for the excess of requests but it would be really nice to see a new version incorporating them.

You cant use stock pictures in a logo.

    lolkat

you cant just redraw the stock photo, change the ears and eyes and claim it as your own draw...

Congrats, you caught me. Duh, it's obvious I traced the stock. I was using it as mock-up, and it wasn't intended to be my final design. So what. I cannot do anymore revisions, so I'm out of the contest anyway.
