As the site owner I should admit that traffic exchanges bring a lot of traffic to the site especially in it's launch period. And it's free. They give free bonuses, which can guarantee a good startup of your project.They advertise you on a number of sites, related to yours, which can guarantee traffic targeting. There are only four things about this issue: the quality of traffic sent by the exchange, their service, the number of sites in this network and usability / flexibility of the system. These factors can influence my choice. Still I try every network to find one that suits me better. And only in case no one can give me good traffic I trade my 100x100 banners. I think 125x125 banners are widely used in blogs. the advantage is that you can often put two of them in the navigtion bar in parallel.
