Hello everybody! I recently put adsense on my site I have had loads of impressions and not one click, is there anything i'm doing wrong? - my traffic is steadily improving but if any one has any tips it will be most appreciated. my site is: paintball.mfbiz.com looking forward to your responses thanks
ok. I think your main problem is that your ads are far away from the content people will be reading and they stand out as ads b/c of the colors. You always want your ads to match your content. Try this. Use your link unit in the header below the title "Paintball UK". Make the link unit right at the bottom of that rectagle. Match the background of the ads with that green so it looks like it has no background. Keep the text of the links white. This will make it look like your site's menu. check out free-stuff-finder.blogspot.com and see how i did it. Change the color of the ads on the right to match the site. Don't make them stand out. then they look like ads, that's not what we want. Also, add some ads to the actual content. Imbed some ads in your paragraphs withing the site. I do that on my site free-stuff-finder.blogspot.com and it made my clicks go way up. for more good tips go to problogger.net, that's where i learn a lot from. Also get the book "the Adsense Code" by Joel Comm. Good Luck!
Yep, I found blending works better than "stand out" ads. Actually reading rgordon83's post, that sounds perfect. Do what he says. Also, it depends on the niche and type of user. For example, the ads on jacks-lounge.com are blended pretty well, with a nice border (a fellow DPer suggested this). Look through the old content or here for an example. After all my hard work, I gave up on that site & niche because it took up a LOT of time, and didn't make much at all ($11.75 since August 06). If your users are not ad-clicking types, sometimes it can be difficult to fix. Try the tips in the above post though, you should see a difference.
It's very clear to make out that those are ad units. I recommend that you bring down the horizontal link unit below the header image (below the time) and make it look like the navigation bar on the left side (color combi). The vertical ad unit on the right hand side should have same background color has your site's and blend it such that it has same color combi has the nav menu on left. Hope this helps!
