Today I bumped with a new site that may well be the next million dollar homepage: 1000tags.com It has much more space to grow, it's a concept that bloggers will like, and it's much more cleaner. It seems that in a few days the site got an Alexa daily rank of 4800 !!! (now it's a bit lower). http://www.alexa.com/data/details/t...ize=large&compare_sites=&y=r&url=1000tags.com Ok, we know that Alexa stats aren't accurate, but it's huge! Imagine when it gets media coverage! Well, I already bought a tag
Seems a very good idea: the 2 types of pricing + the use of tags (an internet2 feature). Also a kind of free link exchange feature.
He says he also gives a tag if you post about it in your blog. I didn't tried it. But I think this concept has a lot more future than the other one, and it's more server / bandwith friendly. Of course it won't have the bang of the other one, but it's good, and last year I thought about something similar, even if this one has some interesting twists that I necer thought of...
This site does look pretty neat. The only drawback with these things is that they are quite easy to copy - look at how many pixel pages are about now!
Good call - I bought one tag and am thinking about buying up a bunch more. Dang it - why didn't I think of this!
More than one good idea, it's necessary to have a form of spreading your site. I'm thinking of some...
Yes, there are some copycats, but he got some good coverage first. The internet is becoming a funny game. Time to play too...
tagsponsor.com is similar. As to the idea, of course all these crazy ideas can be genial or a flop. It all depends on the market. And if it gives you revenue, than it's a great idea
Thanks for the pointer Affiliate7. I think this "craze" has some legs... Maybe a month or two, but like you said - If I can get some revenue from it, then it is a good craze...
what about thenextmilliondollarhomepage.com or how about the millindollarsubpage.com? Wannabes are popping up everywhere.
In regards to this idea as an advertising concept, I don't who did it first, but the idea of tag clouds in general was first used on Flickr.
Tag clouds aren't new. What he did was charging for links in paid clouds, that usually are free. The traffic for my links isn't much, but it's a small link. Most people must be clicking in the big links.
