$10000 to spend on Guerilla Marketing for a new rock band.

I'm doing some work for a project that involves promoting a new rock band using guerilla marketing (low cost, no-cost) techniques.

Just wondering if anybody has any crazy ways they could think of to blow $10000 and generate as much buzz as possible.

Are they good? If so ... videos, and make it creative. VERY creative. The right video could get them 1000's of fans easily.

If they're not that good? Spam the myspace bulletins, get them lots of friends on myspace, etc. Leverage all the teens that want tons of cool friends and are willing to listen to bad music to feel popular (this isn't a joke, this is truly a legitimate marketing technique for a band that isn't "star" quality).

BTW - what type of music? I was going to create a video for my humor site, and would be happy to use their music (with credit to them of course) if it fit the theme.

This band is good (Indie-Rock, Classic Rock) as this we are presenting our ideas to the label that the band is signed to (if our project is the best out of all of the competing presentations). The main goal is exposure and to generate revenue, through CD sales, Downloads, Merch, Dvds, Any new ideas?

I was thinking of at least having their content available for sale/download from their site. I think having the band do some vidz (jam sessions, live shows, videos, real world type video clips, funny stuff, band stuff) that could be upped to Google and Youtube is good for free exposure. I could embed those vids to the bands site as well to generate traffic that way.

I have to agree, videos are the way to go! Make a video and put it on youtube. With the right search words and advertising it will make it. :)

And you'll still have some change left for pizza! :D

Make a really awesome music video but don't show the band playing at all. Show a story that goes with the song.

Who really wants to see a band play in a music video?

PM me with the band's details, and if I like them, I might be able to hook you up with some decent coverage (free). :)
