You can get 1,000 visitors a day to your site, but you'd better be generating a ton of unique content. Start posting 8-10 times a day and including images so you get picked up by Google Image Searches and then you'll be on your way to getting 1,000 visitors a day.

    -Keep adding new content.
-Post links to relevant high traffic forums and blogs. (With relevant posts, DON'T SPAM)
-Post 1 good article a day to each of these: Ezinearticles, Squidoo, Hubpages
    -Social bookmarking
-Start a group on Facebook and MySpace and post bulletins for major updates to your site
-If you have a budget, do PPC

You can get 1k or even higher, but the key is to have top rankings in Google.
Keep adding and updating content and building links, and it is possible.

just put yourself in the shoes of the user: start targeting a niche, offering specific and unique content and make it available from every sharing platform on the net... it's basically building audience.

once you've done that, sit down and enjoy your mnumber of visitors growing daily :)

raptormarketing, it can be done in less than a week, with proper advertising. It doesn't have to be expensive, either.

Basically, that's the only true way.

Using this stupid twitter, and social networks won't even get you close to that mark.

The "key"??? He has to be lucky enough to land high enough for that. Just because one does the proper seo does not mean it is guaranteed.

    Perry,

Twitter or other social networks won't get you 1000 visitors a day unless you're really popular there. But if done well, it can still get you some decent traffic. My twitter account has about 500 followers and I follow the 3:1 rule. For every 3 tweets, i post my link once. I do about 20-25 tweets per day and get about 50-100 UV per day. Of course, i don't ever sound spammy. Since I like the conversations on Twitter, it is easier for me to spend time there.

Also, with Facebook and Myspace, if you build a niche audience, and send out appropriate bulletins, you can get 50-100 visitors a day.

Honestly, if you do a combination of link building, social bookmarking and social networking, you can get 300-500 visitors per day for a new site and as your SERP increases, you get natural traffic.

I do agree with you on the advertising though. That is the easiest way to get traffic.

What people should understand is that 1000 visitors per day for a new site doesn't come overnight, but if you work at it constantly and efficiently, it is very attainable within a one month period.

Getting a few hits here and there by my definition is not "decent traffic."

    Maybe to some, though.

    Show examples.

I will agree that this has happened to some webmasters, but, again, it is about luck.

And, uh, 300-500? Not even close.

In my experience you can do that if you offer viral content. Place tools where your visitor could promote it to others such as, social bookmarking links, TAF etc. Then get yourself a real human traffic source coming in consistantly. NO need to be too many, 50 UV consistanly everyday should be good enough. In a matter of weeks, you will start seeing traffic comming in consistanly and increasing everyday. By 3 months you should be getting more than 1000 UV infact.

PS: BTW if you need consistance 50 UV everyday, check my sig.

Are you saying that with active link building, social bookmarking and social networking you can't get 500 visitors per day? Link building itself involves article marketing, forum and blog posting, link exchange and 3 way link exchange, which will bring you traffic and increase your SERPS. I would be very surprised to see an example of someone doing this well and not getting traffic.

As far as an example of social networking bringing traffic, look at case studies for Zappos.com, Blue Bunny Ice Cream, PF Changs. Of course, these are big brands, but i have an example of a small brand too.

Dos Rios Mexican restaurant in Des Moines, Iowa. Small restaurant in a small town. They built a social network on twitter and facebook and get in excess of 500 hits per week from just those two networks. And they aren't even a big brand with a national or global reach. they are a small restaurant in a small town.

Very possible. With good content, if you can give it a viral nature you certainly could.

No, I am talking about via Twiter. Sorry, my bad.

I'm talking about regualr ol' Joes here. Of course small and big brands get hits. No matter what they do, the will get hits at their sites.

Show the source you got that from.

Unfortunately I don't have access to their analytics. One of the partners works with me, so this is something she shared. I have no reason to doubt her but I don't have concrete proof. We were just talking about social media and she was telling me how amazed she was at the response. If you search for Dos Rios on Twitter, you will find them. They periodically put up specials and links to their restaurant and it works well for them.

Of course with any social media, you have to have the right product. I mean, twitter wouldn't work for industrial products.
