Deebong, your design is brilliant. It is missing links for US/UK/Canada/Australia which is somewhat important (I am ranked #2 on google for Australia Free Stuff for example.)

 

Sorry for the short feedback, I was my server was down this morning which had me pretty distracted.

Deebong, I really like the layout. Everyone seems to like the logo as well. The featured carousel is brilliant. Great impact. I think the design will make sense and appeal to the bargain and freebie hunter segments.

Your design is slightly harder to implement in a search engine friendly manner than some of the others but I think it worth the challenge. I also just noticed that you don't have a top categories section, which is crucial for search engines. Instead of the page 1,2,3 next >>> on the main page , I would probably just a have link to the New Free Stuff page and maybe an rss feed button. Logged in users might have some more options.

For the contest, all I really need to see the US/UK/Canada/Australia/Worldwide and the top categories. The other minor changes are just things I'd have you change before I implement it.

I'm still struggling with this decision. Please bear with me. No more entries are necessary. I'm trying to decide between two specific designs..

 

I'm declaring the winner Deebong although his design is going to be a little tougher to implement in some ways - the classifieds/flyer feel should appeal to my audience and will hopefully promote registrations.

There was many designs that gave me pause for different reasons. As a developer, I was extremely impressed with vinkpl's separation of functionality and I have a mind to reserve the right to purchase it in the near future for another project if that is okay with him. El Mariachi and Vasha Designs were attractive and paid very close attention to the details in my requirements. All of the designs submitted were clever and professional and clearly beyond what I would be able to come up with on my own.

El Mariachi, in particular, spent some extra time interviewing me regarding my requirements and effectively helped me to create them. Since that helped me to define this project I'm going to give him a bonus of $20, as per my initial post.

If you are a webmaster / developer lurking the contests threads - as I did - wondering if it is the right tool for your project - as did I - take my word for it you will not be disappointed. I think that next time I do a web project like this I will make the contest shorter, but require everyone to post their submissions in the thread so as to get the hivemind effect. I would budget 30% of the prize pool to split between the major contributors in that case.
