I could do that in XP. It's called the taskbar.

    I don't have a remote control, most people don't.

    True, but it's still insecure.

I was before. How does the resource-hungry translucent menu bars or animated window maximising help me work more efficiently?

    Repetition of point 1.

I could do all that on XP.

Wow, google picasa has done that for ages.

    Not exactly new.

Actually, it's a huge step backwards. My Intel Wireless manager on Xp works so much better.

I don't use IE and, even if I did, it is still available on XP anyway.

They're not exactly obvious a and most likely not exactly a complete solution.

I could do that on XP. Every TV in my house is also able to do that.

As I said, I don't use IE. FireFox has this as well and both are available on XP.

In other words: You need to buy another Microsoft product for about the price of Vista in order to use a feature in vista.

    Could be done in XP.

There's a wonderful feature in XP that does just this, it's called copy and paste!

    Google desktop does that.

You could do that on XP.

    Repetition of point 2.

Repetition of point 2 and several others.

Wow, a revolutionary new feature, you can now play games on Windows! It's only been there since Windows 3.1 and before.

    Repetition of point. 1

Repetition of half a dozen of your other points.

    Repetition of point 3.

Wow, an operating system that actually works with other software and hardware. Again, more are compatible with XP.

Again, I don't use IE and it works on XP anyway.

    You've said that before.

    Repetition.

    Can be done in XP.

Could easily be done in XP.

No, I need more original, real reasons. you've reworded each reason about 3 times each to make up those 30 reasons and none of them are actually anything more than eye-candy.

I have a better idea then that: How about not acquiring the potentially dangerous software in the first place and using anti-virus. Great, so I can now waste resources upgrading and then be warned that i'm running low on resources! How about not upgrading in the first place and having no need to be warned about it? How nice of them to tell me how much resources It's not as if you can do much about the resource usage either. I can't suddenly magic 500gb more RAM into a machine.
Could all be done with XP.
    Repetition.
Strange, i've been doing that on my laptop (running XP) for I-don't-know-how-many years.
All could be done on XP.
    Ummm, no it's not.
If, of course, you pay top-whack price for Vista ultimate. You can do that on XP for far cheaper (possibly free).
You know, most people nowadays use photoshop and those who don't can do this on XP for free.

What new tools are you talking about? Repetition until you can clarify the statement with some original points.
In other words, Microsoft can now force anything they want down your throat if you leave this option enabled. Can be done in XP, anyway.
XP could do that. Plus, wizards get damn annoying after a while.

A wonderful new feature this one: A guaranteed way to kill the life of your USB key. Hasn't it occurred to anyone at Redmond that, the most probable reason people will need more RAM is because vista is so bloated.

Big wow, available in XP and in most other 3rd-party media players as well.

I don't use IE and this has been a feature in FF for ages.
Wow. I think i'll go out and buy a copy of Vista now so I can waste time playing. </sarcasm>If you want to play games (and I must admit to being partial to that once in a while :p), at least play proper ones.

The Flip3D thing is cute, but that's about the only thing I like about vista to be honest :(

I'm running vista on one machine - all my others are keeping XP.

Windows Firewall is in XP. Vista's extra security seems so far seems to amount to annoying you with confirmation messages every second.
To be honest, i've never heard of that one: It certainly wasn't marketed very well. I must say, I can just visulise it wastefully loading all those programs into RAM when they may well not be used. Plus, I don't think it works very well as I see no noticeable performance increase in Vista. In fact, the extra resource demands probably lead to a performance decrease.
Is absolutely horrible. It's no better than any other Microsoft help system i've ever used (and I normally avoid them like the plague)
You can do that in XP and, let's be honest, who actually carries a smart card around with all their passwords and encryption keys on it? I know I certainly don't and I can just imagine not being able to do any work because i'd left my SD card at home.
    Can be done in XP.
I must say, I don't really get how this one works. There is no possible way it can back up all your files onto the same hard drive without using twice as much space. It's certainly not a reliable method of restoring lost data.
Most people use outlook or other email clients. The only difference i've seen between email in Vista and in XP is that Vista expects me to download large update files of Windows Mail, even though I don't use it.
    Available for free on XP.
I find this one rather vague and hard to believe, there is no foreseeable reason that I can currently think of that would cause XP to print worse than Vista. I would also like to note that it only works on "your compatible printer", probably meaning a brand new top-of-the-range laser with all older printers not suitable. I buy printers less often than pcs, so I don't plan on buying new ones to try out some technology that I can't even see as having any proven difference., and if you want graphics then get a mac.
Hang on, this is just a renamed standby which has been there for years! That's hardly something new to Vista.
I suppose this is probably new, though quite useless.

There is only one reason to get a Windows OS, period. The whole world uses it, and it makes sense to use Windows because it is easier to get support and everyone writes their Apps based on Windows requirements. Linux is by far the better OS.

I've just started using Vista and feel that Micorsoft has unnecessarily complicated things.

I feel almost helpless while using Vista.

That is the biggest problem with a new OS, users don't realy know how to use it properly and decide they don't like it :D

The only thing in Vista's favour is DirectX 10 however looking at how the current Dx10 cards are performing it doesn't seem to be worth it.
