Contest $100 Quick Playing Card Design (48 hours)

My Client is creating a wizard (fantasy) themed card game. They need 4 simple original art images that will go on four different cards and act as 4 types of spells. The artwork needs to be original but I'm expecting something simple. The four types of spells are Fire (red), Water (blue), Earth (green), and light (yellow). So please theme the cards in that color with a representative symbol. All images even though there simple, need to be original, and different from other card games.

I will want 4 images that could fit into standard playing cards (2.5" x 3.5") the simple image will be in the top part and then I will want the numbers 1-9 for each image to put on the bottom section. A good example is magic the gathering. I attached a file of a Magic the gathering card. The only difference is I want the simple picture on top and a large 1-9 on the bottom wording part.

The winner will need to provide the logo in vector (an additional PSD would be nice, but not required).

I would like the art work to look the same, so I would prefer it all be done by one person, but in the end I reserve the right to split up the prize at $25 per image if I need to choose images from different submissions.

I will not accept any private message (PM) submissions. All questions and submissions must be submitted through the thread. I will not take any PM-ed designs or questions.

The contest is for 48 hours or until a clear winner is decided on. Please let me know in the thread if you have any questions.

Hello, this is my try, let me know if im going in the right direction so I can work in the others.

 

What the cards should say:
Green Enhancement: Look at the opponent’s hand
Red Enhancement: Add 2 damage to an attack
Yellow Enhancement: Combine with a red or blue number card to add 1 to the attack or defense
Blue Enhancement: Combine with a defense card to add two points to the total

 

Do you want the entire face of the card designed or just the element symbols/ artwork? (Fire, water, earth, light)

@srodriguezdesign I like where you are going, you have everything where it's supposed to be, I was hoping for something a little more elaborate. Google "trading card games" and you will see what I mean. Bare minimum a box around the 5 so they are all standard.

@srodriguezdesign stunning change in quality from your first to second entry. I'm impressed and really like your work. Now please note in the contest description that this image has to be made in vector format not photoshop. Also it won't work if an image/photo is just copied into a vector file. I need for everything to be scalable and obviously an image or photo will lose resolution.

As for suggestions, can you make the lowercase h in light an upper case H? Thanks, great entry it has definitely set a new bar.

 

Thank you very much, It took its time !! I made it in illustrator, all fonts and icons are vectors, Just the background and papyrus are rasterized images, but they are in high res (minimun 1200px height) and they are linked, not pasted (almost nothing on quality lost), the H is the font basic H (http://www.fontspace.com/dave-howell/magicmedieval), I could edit one but you will have to add it every time you use it.

I also forgot to add the enhancements, in a couple of minutes I´ll upload another image.

Any other suggestion before I post the correction?

The company that is printing my cards prints at 600 dpi and a 1200 pixel image won't be big enough to print my cards let alone the poster that I need to create for each of my cards. I really like yours, in fact it's my favorite so far, but I need it to be 100% vector.

 

Great, I'll try to vectorize the background and papyrus the best way I can, it will look awesome! Give me a couple of hours.

 

@Tri Kusumawardani:Thank you for using vector, I had 3 contests running at the same time but DP killed two because they thought I was running identical contests (I wasn't, but they were similar). I've complained to get them back. I think this might have been a submission for one of those, but we can use it here. Just take out the wording and replace it with the number 5 and change the wording up top to Attack (fire) and Defend (water). I like the fire symbol, I'm not in love with the water one. Also the backgrounds and text seem a little to dark for me. Great submission though, your very talented.

@imhawk: Thank you for using vector,can you change fire spell to attack? It's great work, I'm just not really excited about the background behind the fire, it just seems a little bland. Impressive entry overall though.
