This service is only a part of what all they are doing for their websites. Just like the directory submission they are hiring many other services and are into bigger compitition to get their site into top ranking.

    Well about collecting directoris, is very simple, search on various search engines and then manually verify each directory. Also you need to check them properly while submitting so as to ensure that the directories which you submit to are free directories and are not paid or reciprocal ones.
