I had bought them images which then i have all rights to use that image, it is something called royalty free .... meaning you buy it and use it .....

you even get premade logo's so i don't know what you are talking about.

So no point switching on me hard and giving me a negative points just because i used royalty free images  .

Photobucket has distorted the hue and saturation on my original post and I have deleted it.....

I have toned it back nearer the original but Photobucket is still distrorting the colours from the original...

Believe me, it´s nothing against you in particular, but: using stock images as the main part of a logo design is the equivalent to selling someone his own ass. And not telling right away that you use a stranger´s work as your own doesn´t make it any better.

If you have read the Licensing Terms in Shutterstock you would see the terms and conditions which apply to your image:

In the "Part II Restrictions" section of the terms, you will find that restriction no. 15 states:

You may not "Use any Image (in whole or in part) as a trademark, service mark, logo, or other indication of origin, or as part thereof , or to otherwise endorse or imply the endorsement of any goods and/or services."

    And that no 16 states:

You may not "Use or display an Image in such a manner that gives the impression that the Image was created by you or a person other than the copyright holder of that Image."

The licensing terms can be found here for your info.

Also, I am not giving negative points, I am merely pointing out the situation.

Well that is a bit odd. Basically they own the right to sell those images, so unless you bought them from another stock image seller who is associated with Shutterstock, then you bought from someone who doesn't have the right to sell you those images, meaning that you would have no rights to use them. If you'd prefer to take this to PM, and let me know who you bought it from, I could try to find out if you have proper royalty free images or not?

Well, it wasn't me mate. I haven't got time for giving negative rep points just cos someone made a mistake. We all do it at some point in our lives, and most of us learn from them.

Personally i've looked at your online portfolio, and seen your iTrader here and i can see you're a talented artist and designer. I got no beef with you. As I stated before, I'm merely pointing out the situation.

It appears that artists have these microstock sites sell off their work. The more sites they submit their work to the better opportunity they have for their work to be sold, and therefore receive more money. And Fotolia also has similar licensing terms to Shutterstock.

Well obviously the first doubt went on you....

I have been working at DP for 2 and half years now ... and now this guy comes up to me and says Ahhh you used an royalty free image ....Ooooo its illegal.

Okay you keep checking other contests threads if anyone is using images from sites like shutterstock ...im sure you will find Many .... and then give them a link to shutterstock tos ...and explain .... just like you done on this thread.

    Bye.

Calm down dude. I do this on threads if i see it. I inform, i don't try to slate the individual. Some people don't know all the rules and regs of design and that's fine, but some of us who try to make a living out of it have to be more careful. Yes you've been on this forum for 2.5 years, but i've been in the art and graphics industry for nearly half my life. I've tried to be reasonable about it, and to pass on necessary info to help you in future, but if you're going to act unprofessionally about it, I honestly cannot be bothered.

    I wish you well.

It is totally irrelevant if it´s illegal or not. If you work for a client, there is a single important rule: Don´t harm your client. When you use stock images there is the obvious risk that someone else will use exactly the same image.

After you´ve pretended to be pleased by the compliments for "your" work before, you shouldn´t complain if it rained down negative feedback.

You have found, as I have found, that Aderain ( and his police partner TightDesign ) do this as a matter of course...... they call people out to eliminate competition. I call 'em like I see 'em. Aderain spends 90% of his time trying to find that someone used a partial graphic from somewhere.... instead of designing himself. Aderain was actually called out on a thread about 8 weeks ago for using clip art silohuettes on a thread that you can find by searching his posts. Numerous people caught him.

Hello pot, this is the kettle calling. ????

I actually think TightWad might be Aderain.

People with balls stand up to these guys and defend their work. Let your work stand on it's merits.

I am not advocating copyright violation and make all of my own artwork...... Thanks anyway, Cop wannabee's.

Outspoken as always Manzanvil, and as ever not completely correct. One person called me out. I showed my case and that i designed it myself. Said individual who commented on my work gave no source to backup his claim, and never came back with any after i asked him to.

I am not Tight Design, and to be honest wish i was as good a designer as he is when it comes to the logos and such on here. In fact i take it as a compliment that you think me as good as he is, to believe that we are on the same level.

It's not about eliminating the competition, it's about stating the situation. But using your analogies, i'd rather be a "cop" or "cop tool" than whatever the opposite must be, and using your terms, that must be a "criminal". One does it right, and one does it wrong. And any that cannot backup their claim, feel they have to fight back, or attack others rather than claiming a lack of knowledge that they'd done wrong in the first place must have something to hide, or a knowledge that they are in the wrong.

If you are going to attack someone, please make sure that you get your facts straight before doing so.

Indeed. Apologies to the CH for the unseemly hijacking of the contest thread.
