SINCE YOU ARE ASKING, and we designers have heard a lot this when we show a mockup to any of our customers, and s/he starts asking all the family and friends about it, and each one of them have a different opinion, and confuse more the person that it's actually going to pay....... I'm going to give my opinion.....

I like zmaja the best (the 2 top ones of last post). Then I like Xpressions, with the "S" in the bubble, without extensions. Then Davey as you say with another font (specially the words) and maybe trying blue/orange as colors.

That's only my 3cents (3 designers).

 

There are 150 entries here with an S on them. If any of them were in a pile of other brochures, it would be memorized and easily found like 'the one with an S', so you don't have to worry about that.

 

Fidel: I forgot to ask you one more thing. Again I appreciate your opinion, but can you elaborate a little as to why you like one over another?

Ideas: thanks for the input.

Zmaja: I like yours better, just like Ideas said (the first two in your last post). However, what I am trying to say is that DaveyBoy design (the icon) seems to be the most recognisable of all. So I guess it's style (zmaja/xpressions) versus recognition (DaveyBoy). I just feel DaveyBoy icon is somehow more memorable not necessarily better looking. And after all, the aim of a logo is to stand out, whether it's done by style, colour, etc.

 

What font do you want the main text in mate? Is it worth changing it?

 

DaveyBoy: Thanks for considering the font. To be honest the font doesn't concern me too much as I am sure you can come up with something more suitable. I am still hung up on the icon. That's the MAIN thing. I am DEFINITELY considering your entry and am very strongly leaning towards choosing it. The only "concern" is maybe someone else will come up with something different. I will wait until tomorrow and then give you my answer. The contest ends on Tuesday so there is still some time left. So I don't want to waste your time but that S on an angle, that is very noticeable IMO.

Huh, hard to explain ... on first look, zmajas desing looks better, i dont know why, but my eye catch it Maybe because Daveys design remember me on Smashing magazine's logo, on something knows. Both are great, good job guys, but on the end zmajas logo stands better for me

 

I'll come up with some more, something more creative

Ace: thanks for this. If you do decide to give it another try, please consider something a little more creative. Just so you know what I am going for these are my top three: zmaja, xpressions and DaveyBoy. I have also just received another one via pm which has potential but it's not quite there. The reason I have the ones mentioned above as the top three is because of creativity.

Hecky: thanks for the new entry. Because this logo will go mainly on brochures and letterheads, it does not have to be fully scalable. I am not sure if you had the time to look through the posts (there are a lot of posts and a lot of great entries) but what's going to do it for me is the icon. I need something a little more creative than an S on a square or circle. That is why I like zmaja, xpressions and DaveyBoy the best. Their entries just seem to be more creative. Regarding the one you've submitted I am sorry to say but it's not the best I have seen you do. I am more concerned with the icon because the font can be changed. The colours you used for the icon are not vibrant enough but more importantly, your icon is not as creative as the ones I mentioned above. That is why I have to say the others are still in the running.

 

But S with an angle is something completely different

I'm switching the channel now, I'll switch it back on Tuesday to see who won.
