Before I give some feedback let me get one thing off my chest and this is something that's really bugging me. You probably already know this but I want to get it off my chest: as a CH I wish I could get one entry and be done with it. I feel bad when I see you guys putting effort into this only so you get my usual say: "Thanks but no thanks." Please understand it's not easy for me to say no only because I care and don't want to waste anyone's time, or deceive anyone. Unfortunately what I say and what you understand are two different things sometimes. But it's never easy for me to say no when I see effort applied, but still I need to do what's best for my needs.

So here's the feedback for those who are participating:

Speno: Thanks for the new entry. I am sorry to say but I don't find it special. Your other one with the crowns was unsuitable but nevertheless a very stylish, very elegant and very pleasant design. This new one on the other hand is not what I am looking for. It has an icon but the icon is not that great. The colours you used are definitely brighter but everything else does not seem to fall into place. I am going to stop here because I know you are a tough dude and can take it feedback. This just isn't a design I will be considering. I think you can do better: a better looking icon and a more corporate font. This font is a little web 2ish for me and I personally don't like the web 2 look.

Jamess: good to see you again. I'll be blunt: your first entry doesn't do it for me. It's just too plain. Your second entries are much, much better. They have an icon as requested and the fonts and colours are nice and pleasant. Very pleasant designs and yet I feel like something is missing. Perhaps a small bevel or emboss, just something to make them a little more special. Nevertheless, the direction you've taken is good.

DaveyBoy, thanks for the new entry. You're still my first choice overall but not convincingly (followed closely by Jamess). I am talking overall design. I think you've "complicated" a little the icon in an attempt to improve it and I don't think it's quite worked. Have a look again when you get a chance at your own portfolio http://www.memvis.com/folio07/ at the icon for unleashthebeast. That icon is more like what I want: it's simple, it's stylish and it's not "flat" as the icons you applied in this contest.

watari: thanks for the new entries. Again, very stylish entries and yet not what I am after. Your new entries still do not have that new, current, modern look. I want something a little more modern looking. Something similar to your w in that ball in your avatar/signature. That icon ball (with the w on it) is what I consider something modern, something new.

Ari: thanks a lot for the entry. Mate I am really sorry to dissapoint you again. It is a very creative S but not exactly what I want. The fonts look good and I can see some good results if you continue with these fonts. the colours I am sure can be adjusted, but the S (although creative) doesn't do it for me. I think I like an icon (an S) a little more compact (on a circle, or on a diamond square etc). I really appreciate you giving this a try.

No rush DaveyBoy. There is more than plenty of time. Just remember: I like your design overall. I've already received several submissions and every entry has some strong and not so strong points. In the end it's the overall design that wins. With plenty of time to go and my favorite designer not entering yet, anything can happen. Even though my favorite designer entered my very first competition his entry wasn't even in the top 5. So I am never playing favourites. I still like that guy's style though.

 

Yeah where is Raghav? heh.

Will for sure get another entry in mate, just a bit snowed under today. Actually its more of an avalanche.

i know as a designer when u run through fonts staring at the same word for a long period of time tends to shift your perception lol... anyway im workin on another entry, will post in a bit.

 

DaveyBoy: you've got a fantastic memory. It was Raghav I was talking about. Have no idea where he's from but boy, some of this guy's icons are really great. My opinion every one of you around here has certain styles that are superior in certain angles/projects. the one time I would have loved Raghav to participate was in the chocolate logo. I thought to myself: "If anyone can beat that magnificent entry of expressions, that would be Raghav." I guess we'll never know.

So Ari, I thought I was the only funny guy around here. Now I realise I was wrong. I really like your easy going, light hearted approach. I am just wondering, would it work if the icon was actually a spin off the Superman logo with different colours? Or maybe this is the silliest idea I've had today? Or maybe I need to take some supplements myself lol
