I am having a private contest in 2 ways. One is that the logo concepts will not be seen in public in any way and the other is that I am inviting only certain designers to it. I want this to be a productive contest and dont want dozens of applicants submitting lots of contest entries and instead I would prefer to invite 5 designers into this contest via PM. I have seen their work and liked it and think they can all be a good fit. I will also open up 3 additional spots for designers to submit their portfolio. If I like their work I will add them to the pool of designers in this private contest. I dont want people wasting their time if I know their style of design doesnt match my taste in design.
