* $100 Famous Contest - 48hr Web Design: Helicopters 1 *

I wish i could have entered. Was out of town and i can't design on my samsung Mobile.

 

Not yet.

It usually takes me 2-3 days, though sometimes longer, to come up with all my comments for revisions. All my comments are very well thought-out and methodical. I want to give each design its appropriate attention as I know you guys put in a lot of work. Do not worry, I will post my comments here as soon as they are complete.

Next time b4db0y! I will have a similar contest very soon, so hopefully, you will be able to enter that one!

chemicallinck and everybody: It's been my 2-3 days now. I'm a bad CH. I have scheduled some time this weekend with the helicopter pilot to review all the designs. On Monday, I will have very specific comments on each and every design and list who is leading in the contest. Please let me know if you have any specific questions in the mean time!

good designer (post 15 and 33): I liked your first entry, but your revision had some very desirable changed. I liked how you made the design more blue. I liked how you removed the helicopter shadow which I thought was a little unrealistic. I also liked the new placement of the menu and the phone number. The whole design was a lot clearer and corporate. I also really liked your little box on the bottom of both designs. I liked pretty much everything minus the logo and main picture. Good job!

bizzard (post 18): Yay! Great to see you again in one of my contests! I really liked your use of colour. I started leaning more towards blue and other colours as I started seeing some of the original designs, but your design made a very nice use of my original colour palette. I didn't the logo and the little "I"s in the footer, but everything else was great. I really liked the font you used for your main text content. Nice job!

Hecky (post 19 and 44): Your revised entry is one of my favourites. The typography is great. Originally I wanted more pictures to show the different spots where filming can be done by the helicopter, but your typographical approach was positively unique and different. The colour you used was also fresh and different. I also liked how you had spots for the three different types of samples. I cannot really find a fault in your design. Very nice. P.S. If you cheer for Brazil, at least tomorrow, I will give you bonus points.

deebong (post 21): As always, this is a great design. Probably one of the only things I would maybe change is the logo (though it is not bad at all as it is right now). I really like the colours and really like the menu, main image, 'call us today' area, and the menu under the main image for the sample/portfolio. I really like your background as well. It is one of the coolest backgrounds I have seen for a website. With that said, the background may not be perfect for this company which has less of a playful environment and more of a corporate/business one (or at least is trying to look like it).

chemicalinck (post 22): Great revision! One of my favourite designs in the contest. I love everything you changed about the design. Love the new "samples" pictures. Minor point: services and credits should be two separate links in the menu. Great use of typography and great use of the "What we can do for you" box at the bottom. I didn't like the "view our complete portfolio" text under the main header image / menu. I am not sure about how I feel about the little helicopter in the logo and the little helicopter on the bottom right of the page.

chemicalinck (post 25 and 39): I will post my comments for this design separate as the design was significantly different. There were some elements I liked from each. I really liked the corporate-ness of this design. I really liked the little video link right on the home page. I liked the recent projects section, but liked what you did in the other design more. I really liked a description for each of the menu items. The search is not necessary. The website will only be five or so pages. In the revision of this design (post 39), I liked the 'read more' links and the logo on the left side. I preferred no icons in the menu. Really good job on both of your designs. Overall, I liked your previous design slightly more, but both are within my top designs.

onlyvidiu (post 23): I personally really like your design. The pilot did not like the birds or the main helicopter image at the top very much. I still really like the bottom part of the page with the background, the bottom helicopter image, and the portfolio images/links. If you could do something to make it more corporate (maybe change the colour scheme a little?), it would work better for the company. Great job!

Moogle! (post 24): Your design was the pilot's favourite. I liked it too though not necessarily in my number one spot at the moment. I liked the minimalism of your design. I am not sure about the main image at the top since I did not think the bright blue matched with the black very much (too much contrast?). The main image was one of the things the pilot liked so I am not sure if you want to change it or not. In either case, it does not hurt to try. I liked how you has pictures for some of the web pages (i.e., Camera, Motion Pics). I would love to see one of these boxes for each of the six pages on the website. If you can squeeze that in in a way that looks good, perfect. Great job!

suke (post 34): I liked your design, but I have seen much better designs coming form you I did not like the background or the helicopter in the logo. The helicopter in the logo I did not like because it was exactly the same helicopter as the one in the main image of the page (I didn't like the mirror-like effect). I did not like the background because it didn't fit the beach or other themes I wanted. With that said however, I really liked the helicopter you found as your main image and visible phone number. I was not sure what the slogan was trying to tell me, but we can always change that to something more suitable. I really liked the design of the slogan text. Nice job!

Aha, glad you like my design. I'm afraid I can't pretend I want Brazil to win, just because they're so awesome that they'll easily beat England like they have done in the world cup before .

Unfortunately i have exams tomorrow and wont be able to submit any more entries. The helicopter in the logo spot is just used as a filler. It will be removed in the original template. If i win, i will integrate both the templates as per what you need.

 

Hey Everybody,

The contest is now closed. It is late here where I live so I am about to go to bed, but I already have a good idea of who will win. I will contact the pilot tomorrow to verify and post the winner here. Yay!

Thanks to everybody that submitted a revision either through PM or through this thread. I was real really happy with all the revisions I saw and it makes me glad that I spend a lot of time on my comments. I will notify the winner tomorrow via PM and post on this thread.

Everyone: This was an extremely difficult decision for me. I had to make the decision myself since the pilot did not get back to me on time. So... keep your designs! I may award a second place winner in a week or so. Also, I am so happy with the designs in this contest that there will be a very similar contest in the very near future which I will allow all designs from this contest to enter.
