100% Cpu

I've been trying to locate the reason for Firefox often causing up to 100% CPU which of course is a nuisance performance as it prevents any other operations.

It is looking very much as if the culprit is Microsoft updates. My problems started
with the last updates which were KB939653, KB941202 & KB933729

Before I delete these updates (and you have to wonder how important MS updares are if you run a good AV and Firewall) I want to check if any of you have been experiencing high CPU takeup recently.
If so let me know what programs are affected (for me it's mostly Firefox) and what you've discovered.

Don't have much to go on, but isn't 100% CPU much more likely to be a virus infecting the file than an update conflicting with the program?

No. Have checked for infection and the system is clear. I know others have experienced conflict with updates (especially is they like me don't d/load Genuine Advantage) but want to see how widespread it is.

Did you try going back to an older version of FF? Like 1.07 or something?

Fair enough. I'm updated with the latest version of Firefox and I've got no issues myself (No GA either)

    How good is your computer?

If FF is taking up 100% of your CPU you should really upgrade...

i had this problem for about a week, FF crashed or froze and was stuck on 100% cpu, i tried to install older and newer, I tracked it down to windows defender, or one of 2 plugins, the FF seo pack or downloader helper and uninstalled them. now i am back to normal

    Clear all your private data.
I recommend starting FF in safemode and then clearing it.

ITS A VIRUS! I had the same issue forever! Then I ran a virus check only one found and cleared it, Firefox uses way way way less now :)

This is plug in issue. make sure you are using the latest ff without any plugins and see if it is ok for you. then start installing plugs one by one until you know the one causing the problem.
