$100/click is not enough

    Hi,

I have a [keyword] that I was bidding for on Adwords, with a direct link (as an affiliate) and I've been on the top spot for one year, with good results.

Now, since another affiliate came, my ad doesn't show anymore, even if I bid $100. All I can see is only a few impressions and 1/2 clicks a day (geo targeting setting: all countries).

Is anything else I can do?

Please note that I'm only talking about direct linking strategy, not landing page with other domain.

    Thanks.

    First off,

i'd be careful raising your bid per click to $100. What if the impressions do start up , even 10 clicks could cost you potentially $1000.

If the double serving rule has taken effect , what i would do is just build a simple landing page, your ad should start showing again

    Yeah,

I know. However the cost till now, for this keyword, has been 0.15 per click.

I'm aware about landing page solution, but the question is about direct linking.

Based on the information given, it doesnt sound like there is a direct linking solution. You've already tried bidding an outrageous amount and still no impressions.

Google has a double serving rule, which means theoretically, they will only show one ad per display url. So either this other person is bidding even higher, or has a better quality score or combo of both.

You could by a unique domain and forward it to your direct link ... but do that at your own risk. There is mixed thoughts about doing this with adwords, that they do not allow it. Many, many do it, but i've also heard stories of accounts being banned because of this.

... thats the only direct linking strategy i can think of.

lol I think Googles share price would go up if someone was paying $100,000 eCPM!

    Yes,

I saw so many competitors forwarding proper domains to clickbank hoplink...
But I want to stay in the rules. thanks for replay.

I think there's something like CTR history playing the game here, could someone suggest tips about that? I mean, knowing that Google has a double serving rule and probably the competitor CTR is higher than mine (18.90%).

    Welcome to the club...

This is a problem that Google won't acknowledge. AdWordsAdvisor has been made aware of it, but did not come back with an answer.

If the ad text is the similar, keyword the same, destination the same, and the existing #1 is bidding $100, can anyone else show? I would like to think that newcomers get some impressions so that Google can tell if they get a higher CTR, but finding out if this really happens seems impossible (short of running two accounts and testing it)

It might be to do with advertisers in other countries gaining an advantage from bidding higher than $100 using a non-US currency, because even though daily exchange rates appear to be used to determine which ad to show, the maximum bid in non-US currencies is rounded, so it might be GBP40 or AUD175, and sometimes that maximum converts to higher than $USD100.
