Depends on the site. If you are a small site and uniquie. You could try contacting sites that relate to you (for example horse chariots and horses) and buying links from them.

If your site isn't unique, then try to buy few links that would make your site shine from the rest.

Personally, I think you'd be better-off spending that money on pay per click search engines, unless you target uncompetitive terms where $100's worth of text-links is enough to get you ranking highly.

I personally would recommend lower cost, mid range pr seo friendly permanent links in directories :)

$100 isn't much to work with, but at least this way it's a permanent link, will get the se's crawling back and give you some rank for the time being. $100 a month in directories can go a pretty long way. After a month or 2 if you're still in it, then break some of this funding up and buy a few home page links on 'related' site.

Forgot where it was but read an ad for a surfing site for sale a couple days ago with decent pr and wasn't that expensive, if I could remember where I read the ad I'd send it to you ;)

Quick note on ppc, even those that have great luck with ppc it'll be short lived and what you put in is gone. The only benefits that you 'might' get long term are a few sales now, possibly some referrals or returns. Guess it depends on how much markup you have from your expenses to your profits and how competitive the terms are in ppc. I do use ppc to a limited extent but always prefer long term strategies myself.

    hello there,

i used to subscribe on a few thousands of backlinks from a few sites.
it used to provide me the ranking for a few months

a few months ago, i found my site dropped out from yahoo completely and so far so bad.

    does these scheme still work?

for big companies like yahoo, google, msn , they can easily spotted this kind of method and devalue it easily.

    making sense?

can i conclude that buy these kind of link subscriptin services are dead?

any inputs are highly appreciated..since i'm plan to kill these subscriptions and go for paypayclick in stead

If I stumble acrossed it I'll send it to you, I should have it in my bookmarks somewhere since I was debating buying it myself 'don't know what I'd do witha surfing site though?' If I find it I'll post the link.

Agree with hrblcantra. Look into respectable directories that you expect to be around a few years from now and which have decent traffic, good PR in your desired category and not too many related listings to compete with. You may not get much traffic from the directories themselves but Google likes strong perm links related to your subject. Consider a listing option which allows keyword rich anchor text.

    Good luck

Ask the #1 ranked site what advertising on their site in the form of a text link would cost. Surprisingly you may even be able to get two relevant links from authorities for $50 each per month or less if you pay for a year's advertising up front.

I have like a $1500/month budget on "links" or ads on related site. I figure I get that back each month in sales. I only buy spots on sites related to the stuff I sell, so I get traffic and sales from it. I also try and post articles on sites that get traffic. I have one article that gets me 3-4 sales/week - which is nice, considering its a free ad essentially. Be wary of where you "buy links" though - as lots of them are totally worthless.

I totally overlooked that your question was concerning a "monthly" budget. Since directories only require one-time or annual fees, I'd follow Dominic's and lorien1973's advice to shop for relevant links from sites that rank well.

Instead of buying just links you could use that $100/month to have articles written and then distribute them to gain links. That gives you both content and links instead of the few links you'd get from link buying alone.

yeah, but too much duplicate content pointing to you really doesn't help either.
