$100 2 Page Design Contest (Uncoded)

Discussion in 'Design Contests' started by crawm1, Dec 30, 2008.

I am revamping a Hardwood Flooring site using WordPress. I need a home page and a sub page design. I want the user to be drawn to submit their contact info for a free bid.

The current site is at www.WoodysHardwoodFlooring.com. You may refer to this for ideas, but the winner will be a design which makes a vast improvement. I am looking for something with more of a 2.0 look and feel.

I drew up a rough sketch of the layout for the home page. I will also need a template for all the sub-pages (which will include a blog and separate pages describing all the different species of wood that the client carries, plus the standards like Contact Us, etc).

This contest will be open for one week.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

    ADDITIONAL CONTEST DETAILS

If we like a few designs, we may pay runner the up as well (subject to agreement)

All our contests have been paid in the past (including a runner up), so you may compete with confidence. Below are some of our other comps:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=911200
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=996894

The flash piece mentioned on the sketch (a gallery of hardwood floor pics) should look similar to this site:
    http://www.homecookrecipes.net/
You can find images on the portfolio page of the client’s existing site.

The flooring company is called "Woody’s Hardwood Flooring"

Please register interest so we do not close contest prematurely without your submission.

We would like the winning entry (if PSD) to have
    All images on separate layers.
All text on a separate layer to make coding easier.

    Please note the following:
All copyright and title will be transferred to us (of the winning design only) when we have paid the winner.
    Payment by paypal
You must be the legal owner of the entry.
All clipart/images must be royalty free for commercial use. If you are using stock photos, please go to www.istockphoto.com and chose up to $10 worth of photos from there. We will then buy them if you are the winner. You can keep the watermark on it if you like.
You must be able to show the origin of any other photos (so they do not infringe copyright)
    All artwork must be original.

(on being paid, the winner must send an email with the files stating that all copyright is passed to us for the design. )

    Good luck.

Mind sketching the way you want your content page to look like? I find your first sketch very useful.

Thanks for your question. I'm not a designer myself, so I would rather see some creativity flow. I will give you prompt feedback on your submissions though. The sub page needs to have a similar look and feel, but one key element is that it also needs to have the same form as the home page. Remember, the goal of this site is to have to user submit the form.

If no great sub pages are entered I will try to sketch it out.

Another note, I would like a glossy look to the nav buttons.

willhaynes: Thanks for your accepting the invite. I said the contest is a week, but I will keep it open until I find the right design.

Yes, you can change things around a bit.

badmasketa: Thanks for the submission. It's looking really good. Here's the feedback from the client:

*Doesn't like the blue or green. Stay with color shades of red, orange, yellow, black, white, charcoal.
*For the header, take a look at the existing site. Notice the black "arc" and wood grain. Do something like that, only instead use bamboo or white oak (very light colored wood) instead of the current (more brown) color.
*On the logo, "Hardwood Flooring" needs to stay below "Woody's".
*Make bid form flush with header and footer so it looks more organized. If you can make the bid form fit into the header, this may be better than dropping it below.
*Wants the credit card logos displaying somewhere on the home page (see existing site)
