You're right guys... I meet his brother and he does some programming and our conversation was way over his head - to the point where he said that he had another appointment and to go down the hall to talk... Good with numbers but not with computers!
It will be a company, to earn over $3,000 a day working for yourself you would have to be charging the earth for your services.
Only if it is actually service based...Affiliate sites can build and build so you are only servicing the growth on a daily basis
The thing is, if anyone knows how much the guy brings in (Brings in, not makes) its the accountant. For all we know he is spending 75,000 to make 100,000
He could be doing more then just web design, maybe programing also, web hosting, seo work things that would help generate $100,000 a month
i don't beleive if he only does some designing and some some sorts of programming. It can only be possible if he have found the mine (stupid client who gives him work at very^900 high rate and washes money).
everything is possible in ths world man... u can earn more then this... but u have to do work and have to be experienced
It all depends on your clients. Big companies pay stupid amounts when there is probably a 15 year old school boy who would do it for a small percentage of the price!
Probably didn't tell the whole story to the accountant. Unless he's some superb web designer, there must be some other online businesses involved other than plain designing.
That is what I was thinking... if he does a big variety of things and charges healthy fee for everything.
If he is talking 5 years ago and a guy was working from his one bed apartment then there are 100's of people that are now making that sort of money. not just shoe and the john chows of this world. and even longer....remember a little company like google or even yahoo etc - they all started from basements. most of the big oaktrees on the net started off as spotty teenagers with a big idea. ps. accountants can just about explain what they do and have no idea how to explain to other what the real world people are doing
man I would jet away from that accountant. Who wants an accountant who blabs other clients financial details?! What is he telling that guy about _you_? Now on the other hand it is perfectly legit to ask your professional advisors (acct, lawyer, etc) for introductions to some of their clients for purposes of networking. BUT those other clients have to agree before any information is exchanged. If you really want the scoop on this guy, tell the acct you need web design and could he introduce you.
Let's see the positive probabilities: 1) He might take up huge contracts and work on them. 2) Since he's been in the business for almost 5 years, I think he's an expert in what he's doing. 3) He's also selling items on Ebay or selling other sites' goods using an affiliate scheme. 4) Google Adwords implemented in the sites he design???? 5) For all you know, your accountant must be talking about ShoeMoney?
Web design is probably an easy cover-all term. Here's a real life example of someone demonstrating how to make a million dollars a week with Facebook Apps. If you're that facebook app developer earning $50 million a year, it's easier to say you're a web designer or programmer rather than explain what an app is to someone who's never used the internet, it's not worth your time.
I have been doing web design since 1999. And i have done many corporate web sites and web sites for individuals. the best deal i ever got for a single web site was from a mobile service provider company 6.000€ and it took me 4 weeks to complete it. so there is no way he earn 100.000$ per month just by designing a web site! maybe he got alot of web sites ( good web sites ) which earn him money from adsense, adbrite etc..
