I've designed a new logo on my own and its pretty good but can be better, maybe. Maybe with the creative input of a bunch of you we can find perfection. You can see what I got here www.axemedia.com I like the font (Century Gothic), but maybe you know a better one. And colors are good but maybe you have a better idea on the perfect shade of grey and red to use. The target symbol is what needs the most refinement. My original plan was to create sphere then add the white rings. I don't think i did the gradient shading properly to get it to look like a sphere, though it almost looked right, and once I added the white rings all of the sphere effect disappeared. Maybe a sphere is the wrong idea anyways and a flat image will work better. But with some gradient in there to spruce it up a tad. Also, proportions. I don't know how big that target should be in relation to the text. The final product must work well for not just the web but also for print media too. (vector files must be at 300dpi) So basically I am looking for refinements on my idea, but If you do happen to have an interesting idea of your own be sure to give it a try. So the prize is set at $100 for the best design and Contest will run till November 7th but could end early if someone produces a slam dunk. If nothing is considerably better than what I have now then I will still award the prize to the best I see here. *EDIT* Another thought would be to have the target look like an archery type target tilted on a bit of an angle to show a little depth on the side. But of course we would be throwing axe's at the target, not shooting arrows. lol
Here is a enlarged version if you would like to see it http://www.digital-view-web.co.uk/axemeswcsadcf.png
Feedbacks, I gives u sum. neilparnham - the font is not working for me. Don't like the a's with the upper hook thingy (whatever that is called). The red tone is not deep enough. The icon is ok but it looks too much like an eye in the center and I'm not fond of switching the x in the center to white instead of red. It has to work well as a small target image on the map graphic. Rubik -I like how the icon has some depth but is still flat. The reflection below is too big. And i don't think i like the outline around the text. MikeEisMe - Too faint. and I'm not liking that icon??? eruct - You pulled off the sphere look. Looks like a pool ball (one image we had in our mind). But now that I see it as a proper sphere I don't think a sphere works for us sairos - nice try with a different font, but is not working as well as the Century Gothic. And the icon colors are to faint and the gradients are too contrasty. Gal - I think your icon was still too wet when you posted it. Its dripping. lol. Text is too faint. The droopy icon does not work for me. ragav - very nice work. simple and clean is what I like. Pretty damn close to my version but you've refined it well. I like the vertical line separating them, it balances it out nicely. Currently your the one to beat. To all entrants- don't go too heavy on the web 2.0 stuff. Keep it subtle. Not too bubbley, not too shiney, not over gradient-ized, etc...
The one you have up there is hot! I would erase the outer ring on the logo and take out the giant X. It's too busy!! example: aOemedia.com
