This Sunday will be 10 years since I have joined Digital Point. I see it is still a useful resource. I think the owner does a good job and I don't feel he will sell out. I have been with the same hosting company for about the same time, but in 2012 they were acquired by some mega-corp and they have gone downhill since then.
Isn't that a trend? I can think of 2-3 internet companies that got acquired and went downhill as a result. What category do you mostly frequent on DP?
Futures the Magnificent is the DP psychic. He has never been known to be wrong. For example he predicted that it would get dark last night, and it did!
Congrats! Although I must admit I have never bumped into you on DP Myspace. Although other factors came into play besides just the acquisition.
I didn't claim to be in the know. I just think he is a nice guy. It was mostly an off handed comment after further reflecting maybe it is a contrast rationalization. I mostly just lurk now. I have sold and bought some stuff before but not recently. That is funny it reminds me something someone from this site said when I met him in person. He told me I looked taller than what he expected. Maybe he thought online that I acted as if I had one of those complexes they say short people have that makes them act a certain way as compensation for being deficient in height. I don't think there is any real correlation between height and behavior though. So I have met someone from this site once, well, I met him online through Digital Point first and we tried to work on some websites together. Ultimately there was not any result, it was mostly just talk. A few years later I was traveling and had a layover at an airport near him, so we hung out for a few hours and that was pretty much it. A random event.
@Futures_Equity Wow you're a diehard fan to DP. : ) May I ask for your suggestion when do you think I should become a paid member to DP, does it worth my penny from your 10years experience? Thanks
It's just two random words. Futures as in futures exchange, equity as in ownership. And what about yours? I would guess it is your first initial and surname or partial surname. Very cool. Good job man. Hmm. You are banned , well if you can afford it and you feel like it is valuable enough to you then it doesn't sound like a bad idea. I think I am going to go back to lurking for now. Maybe see you in 2026.
When you say futures exchange, do you mean gambling on future events like you do on the stock exchange, sports betting, etc? And yeah, you're right about my username.
I am usually reluctant to try to translate posts, but it's Friday night and I have an end of the week thought. He either means "congratulations to the dear OP" or he thinks that this is an African dating site. I kind of vote for the latter.
It is not just internet sites, but businesses in general when they sell out. Typical scenario is a small business becomes successful, another business buys it, the new owners fix that which is NOT broken, then the business dies. I have seen it happen time and time again in real life as well as on the internet. Microsoft has repeatedly bought out successful businesses, then trashed them, for example.
