Hello, I have a simple question , If i buy a domain name for 10 years is it possible this to help for better rank ? King regards...
There was a rumor for a while that Google ranked domains higher if they had several years left before expiring. The idea was that a longer registration meant the website owner was more serious about the site than somebody who just registered a domain for 1 year. I have yet to confirm this officially though. I have several domains that have just a few years on them right now and they are ranking just fine.
I guess Domain age matters only when the website is live for long time and not when you just had a domain and didin't use it for many many years. Google's record should confirm the long presence to be useful.
Yes, the amount of time your domain is registered (into the future) does positively affect SE ranking.
I remember Matt indicated somewhere that google does look at the length of the registration, btw if your domain name is that much valuable you may consider to get it registered for longer to avoid get it lossed.
I tested this, I had a web page that was ranking on the second page, then I extended the domain as that article suggested and I jumped to #2 on the front page! But I did do a couple changes to my site that could have affected that as well
Thanks to all, i agree too that long registration in future helps, of course it needs SEO well done and 2 - 3 years background.
There are rumors of length of duration tied to site importance. Perhaps longer duration tells Google you are around to offer something good to the web.
I think so. Spammy sites tend to have shorter domain lengths. Most serious sites or businesses will register for longer periods.
i have a domain set to expire soon. i was going to renew it for 10 years but Godaddy will only allow me to do 9. i guess that is good enough.
Domain age is VERY important, Google has confirmed this several times. Its the best way to make sure a site isnt spam, a domain with age goes against the defenition of spam.
Just to add some point to the thread to discuss further , here is what I have in my mind. why should google give some credit to a site that is built on an older domain that was either unused or used for different things?
longer duration of a domain indicates that yours is a reliable site. Ofcourse, other things also count.
honestly who cares, who even knows if they will be alive in 10 years. It will make no difference anyway as rankings change directly with your sites traffic, content, links etc.
