Why isnt video blogging listed? Or at least posting promotional videos on video hosting sites like yotube.

Youtube is somewhere around the number 3 - 5 website worldwide. If you do not have a youtube account, and if you are not posting video blogs, you are missing out on a vast audience.

For my site stats - youtube is just behind google in the amount of people referred to my site. Once a person reaches my site from youtube they are 60% more likely to create an account as compared to google traffic. Once you have the video uploaded to youtube, it is also instant content for your blog, website or forum - just embed it. Its very possible to write an article and post your youtube video in it. This will keep the viewer on your page almost twice as long.

And really now, how much traffic do newsgroups really get? And if you do use a newsgroup, its easy to filter out the spam links. To use a newsgroup effectively, you should be posting watermarked pictures, videos or mp3s for podcasting. It would be very possible to use the same videos you uploaded to youtube, and just post that same video in the newsgroup. If you have pictures that belong to you, watermark them with your website name, zip them up and post them on a newsgroup as background images.

Lets say you have a website that has a nitch of red doors. Take pictures of houses, where you can see the red door, water mark the picture with your website name and upload that picture to the "red doors" newsgroup.

Sometimes its not enough to say "use this to promote your site." We need instructions on how to use this, and do that, to achieve the best promotion.

I would add hosting contests to the list. Contests can be a great way to get some promotion. Especially if you can promote the contest (which you can do by most of the ways in your list). There are also websites like Contest Beat that you can submit them to for some extra exposure.
