I would stress on the last point - SEO. Traffic from search engine is considered the best and not only optimize your site for the bots but also consider the human visitors who come to your site looking for vital information.

 

I don't know if i'd put payperclick first especially if your new, like myself. Seems kinda risky unless your site is really good or you're REALLY targeted in your niche.

 

The best traffic is FREE Traffic. The best methods are forum postings, article submission with backlinks, and Free classifieds. You got to keep consistent though, that is key!

 

Social bookmarking is the way to get traffic. Other very good points are made here and I agree with dairyman and would like to say that SEO is of prime importance

 

All those strategies are essential in generating traffic in to a website. I prefer forum posting and social book marking which brings quite a lot of traffic in to my blog.

 

I wouldn't say that PPC should be the first one on the list.

It's easy and free. Depending on a banner exchange you can get GEO targeting, free bonuses e.t.c.
I bet it helps to attract more visitors.

Thank for sharing, but i think all of them are very important. I use all of these methods for driving more traffic to my websites.

 

Pay Per Click gives you a boost in traffic for a short period of time, I don't see the point in it.

this information is already widely known about and deployed reguarly by users of this forum and you've offered nothing remotely new. are you posting purely for the sig backlink?

when looking for backlinks I stay well clear of recipricol links. Although they are easy to create try to resist. Try a few other techniques.

Create a Blog
Use contests to build links
Get reviewed
Guest post on blogs
Exchange content with other bloggers
