To be honest it all depends. Does the title appeal? Are the articles on subject of need? Is the content worthy? I don't know your plans, but you should consider breaking down those general areas into smaller niche markets. As for where to submit... go with the larger directories first. EzineArticles.com is a good start. However, keep in mind all directories don't accept the same article.
I have to agree a lot with what Infoterial has mentioned, but would just like to add the following. The success of your article is a combination of things, but most importantly is the title... no matter how good your article is, no one is going to see it if your title isn't keyword rich and enticing enough. Hence no one will click on your link in the resource box. How long is a piece of string? It is difficult to predict the amount of traffic that you'll get, in my opinion it depends on your niche and how many quality articles you have out there. It takes time, your goal is to become an expert in your niche. Therefore, the more quality articles you have the better the results.
I think its hard to say you will get traffic. But A good article will get picked up by several sites spreading your backlinks
