10 Tips to Run a Better Blog Contest

    Pick an appealing prize.
    Find a sponsor (if needed).
    Clear rules and a deadline.
    Keep accurate records.
    Don’t make entry too easy.
    There is more to life than links.
    Different actions equal different tickets.
    Linkback to all entrants.
    Make the winner post a follow-up.
    Post regular updates.

    Thanks for this. I think contests are going to be the next thing I add to my blogs in an attempt to attract more visitors. Do you have any more tips on attracting sponsors?

    Pick an appealing prize. - keep it realistic.

    Thats one of the most important ones really. Like Im just doing a contest for $350, but already scared of many since its a bit unrealistic for many (even though I do intend to pay them!).

    What would be a better way is to run several contests, building a profile and then increasing the contest prizes a bit by bit.

    As for the rest, thats some good info!

    Good post. I think stating that the winner should post a follow-up might be negative. If your prize is good enough, they will be glad to do so of their own will, rather than that of a "payed review" sort of post. For small prizes this may be fine though.
