Here's the quick version, for the full version check out the bottom of the post. Pick an appealing prize. Find a sponsor (if needed). Clear rules and a deadline. Keep accurate records. Don’t make entry too easy. There is more to life than links. Different actions equal different tickets. Linkback to all entrants. Make the winner post a follow-up. Post regular updates. http://www.contestbeat.com/10-great-contest-tips/
Thanks for this. I think contests are going to be the next thing I add to my blogs in an attempt to attract more visitors. Do you have any more tips on attracting sponsors?
Pick an appealing prize. - keep it realistic. Thats one of the most important ones really. Like Im just doing a contest for $350, but already scared of many since its a bit unrealistic for many (even though I do intend to pay them!). What would be a better way is to run several contests, building a profile and then increasing the contest prizes a bit by bit. As for the rest, thats some good info!
Good post. I think stating that the winner should post a follow-up might be negative. If your prize is good enough, they will be glad to do so of their own will, rather than that of a "payed review" sort of post. For small prizes this may be fine though.
