10 Tips to Make New website Rank High in Google

Good tips, but as other people have said, unique content is more important than unique theme, unless by theme you mean niche. If you have a unique niche with great key words or phrases so much better, but these are quite hard to find.

Geez, I had just made this post very casually and wasn't expecting 20+ replies. Anyway let me answer you guys one by one...

By diversify means, you don't want get 75%+ links from same resources. It just don't look natural. I remember, people used to dump there links in DP alot in the past now imagine, you have 40 backlinks and 30 are coming from DP alone, not a great situation, right ?

Hmm, well its a matter of choice. I am pretty sure the theme thing is not a big issue at all. I just wrote it because I feels that you should have somewhat unique theme. I mean some type of themes are just cursed like proxy template themes as well as rssgm themes i.e. themes. Now if you are building a pooxy site site than you don't want to use a theme used by 5k others, do you ? in Black hat, people often say leave zero footprints. So if your site is not good (you are using rss to build content or scrapping yahoo answers) the least you can do is to have a unique theme.

Well to be very honest, its hard to write very descriptive article on DP as I would prefer to keep the best content for my blog (won't you do the same too,right?). I have clarified that unique theme thing above. For the rest, here are my answers.

Some examples of Authority sites are adobe.com, wallstreetjournal.com and techcrunch.com. Now how to get links is a totally different question and it can take pages if I really start writing. But let me give you a tip, if you have a great catchable topic to write on, submit it to Press Release websites (paid once) and the chances are, you will be picked up by news websites (not NYT but atleast by few good once) and there is your authority link.

Good neighborhood = relevant quality websites. Not warez,porn, spam sites which are not related to you and worst, you are linking to them. I don't think anyone can put any guideline on measuring "This page is quality" or "this content is quality" but think about it, you don't need someone to tell you that this page is a quality or not. Read any wikipedia article and any article on about.com and you will understand what I mean.

Old sites have older backlinks (I will explain this in another post in my blog) which have more value than new links. For getting authority links, as I said earlier, look to submit to paid submission to PR.com and prweb.com

Not unless you stop being over critical and put something from your side. Discussion can be only be done when people are willing to start putting thoughts and points. WMW is a great example of it and hence have most amazing discussions. DP does have a very newbie crowd so a piece of information which is useless for others may be useful for them. I don't see any problem with such threads.

Diversify your links means don't get too many links from same source. Like if you have 50 backlinks and 40 are from DP alone, than its very nice. Try to get links from various sources.

Unique theme is part of reducing bounce rate strategy, if you have a template that people seen in the past they are more likely to leave the website, either because they'll think they saw it before or just because it looks "cheap" to them.

I am building a few new sites and they are meant to be static. through some info up, update every so often kind of thing.

Will that hurt me in google? do they penalize sites that are not updated daily or weekly?

I have been finding link building really difficult and is something I need to improve on. My sites ranks really badly in Google, my only saving grace is the fact I get huge amounts of traffic from YouTube thanks to a successful video of mine!
