10 Things bloggers forget to do

Publishers Weblog has a list of what it considers to be 10 things bloggers forget to do.

It is possible that not everyone will agree with all 10 of them. I thought I would mention them in case they could be helpful to some people. Here are the 10 things according to Publishers Weblog.

3. Linking
4. Analyze
5. Polish
6. Categories
7. Permalinks
8. Social Bookmarking
9. Advertisement
10.Template

I just gave a list of the ten. Publishers Weblog gave explanations and details for each of the 10.

I wonder if that list is based on the fact that amateur bloggers don't really even understand most of the items on that list... and they might outnumber professional bloggers. Hmm, it'd be interesting to know what the stats are using to judge that.

 

this's the basic to do, and it is a must

 

Unless you have a self hosted blog you can't do much about first and second.

 

That is why blogspot loses out to self-hosted blog.

 

I have a problem with my permalinks and can not rectify it.

Having to compensate in other areas for it.

 

You can do these all so easy from wp. I dont think blogger support some features.

The above 10 things are basics and everyone must implement it.

 

I use blogspot from google... and they pretty much take care of all that backend work .

 

This looks like a top 10 list for what bloggers should do. I would add inconsistency to the list.

 

Lets out of the 1990s and get with the times.

Create a youtube account - if you aint video blogging, your falling further and further behind.

Video sitemap - create a video sitemap and submit it to your google webmaster tools. Now this is different then a regular sitemap. Video sitemap and regular sitemap are 2 different things. This tells google that you have videos embedded into your site.

RSS directory submission - forget submitting 1 link at a time. Submit your RSS feed so you can get more of your inner pages indexed and deep backlinks.

Visit some trade shows - get out from the computer from time to time and connect with people in the real world.

Sponsor a contest - people love to get stuff for free.

Install a light box effect - people like images, people like images that look really cool. If you going to have images on your site, make them stand out.

I'm a blogger and I've done all those 10 Tips.. lol
Not forgotten any of those

 

++2, blogger sucks, no upload of files, no server side code. That is why I switched to winhost.com, for $5 I get all full trust .NET space I need

 

Great check list for when your building your blog! Yes there are a few more to add but guess you get to those with more experience
