It should be warned though that certain things are against their ToS and can get you, or worse, your site banned!

Stumble this thread and chances are your SU account will go up for review. DP has been banned from the network (I assume for allowing the stumble exchange threads) and at least a few members here have been banned from SU for participating in such stumble exchanges.

Self promotion IS against their ToS as well, so it should be done as discretly as possible! As in, I'd not suggest anyone to "like" each and every post they make.

Read and follow the community guidelines!

That said, SU is super great and the tips given in this thread are tops!

Another tip for increasing traffic through SU is to give a thumbs up to other peoples blog articles that you have commented in (leaving your link). This potentially gives indirect traffic as well as diversifies your own stumble patterns.

 

Iv never really put that much thought in SU as it doesn't convert as well as we would all like, but for the purposes of exposure and # of uniques I think it is worth working on. Thanks for writing it in such plain, easy to follow tems.

 

I used SU for quite a while but I admit it became a bit boring - in fact both visiting sites as well as doing some kind of promotion.

Everything there is just "quick" - quick visiting and quick leaving as well.

You may see a lot of people coming (in fact I had a couple of 000.000s on one site), but earnings are maximum xx $ in one year. From that point of view pure waste of time. It is really like everyone says: quick visits with hardly any clicks.

And depending on your topic quality of sites vary dramatically ... many poor sites included

 

I got over 8000 visitors in a couple of day from SU and then it fell off. I have just looked at my Google Analytics and see that quite a bit of it is coming back from SU. So it can have a residual effect.

Good info...But personally, I think targeted advertising is much better than stumble....

 

I've used Stumble Upon a lot in the past and it did very well on my more creative posts. People seem to like posts with images, video, and all that other good stuff.
