Ping o matic just informs some of the popular sites that your blog, site, post, etc has been updated or changed, and hopefully they will come visit it and index it.

I think it also helps if you have a popular site with decent traffic that google already comes and visits frequently to begin with. I've seen some sites that are popular and always changing, these folks make a new post and google is right there to suck it up and index it. Digital point is probably one site that google frequents and eats up the posts and replies.

whats works for me is to post the link on my blogs. it always index within 24 hours that way !
