Hi All Assuming a moderately competitive set of 10 keywords, all to be on page 1 of Google within say 3 months... How many articles would be (typically) need/or advised to be published per week to see results.. Is there a set ideal, i.e 10 keywords = x submissions, 20 keywords = x submissions etc... Thanks Rob
It all depends on the competition. It is also important, how different the keywords are from each other. For something like "new keyword" buy keyword" etc. less links are necessary, as if they are completely different. Also you should get links from other sources only artitcle submissions isn't the best way.
Yes, you are right, nicolasthun! It mainly depends on competition about how many links a keyword needs for good ranking. There is also some other factors like domain age, on-page optimization, clicks your website is getting, all are calculated well for overcoming competitors as well. As you have mentioned that you would get links through article directories, it is good getting links from article directories because article directories would give you natural back links as your articles published on other sites as well naturally. Apart from article directories, you should also look for other ways of doing link building, this way your link building campaign would be more natural.
What you need to do is check the number of backlinks and pagerank of sites already where you want to be on Google. To knock any one off it's spot you will need more backlinks of equivalent status Tools like Market Samurai help you find out this info - but for just 10 keywords, you can do that manually.
It mainly depends on your competition. however, you should keep the submissions regular. You should also broaden your variety of backlinks. you should not only depend on backlinks from article submissions. You should contact other webmasters and do link exchanges. This will then drive more traffic to your website. It would also be better if you get backlinks from higher authority sites in your niche.
I cant see any benefit in link exchanges, unless they are a higher PR site than yours...And who on earth would want to link to a site with a lower PR than theirs..?
I agree with seafrontsteve, check the competition and that will give you a clue on how much backlinks may be enough to get you in top 10. but you need diversity, only article directory backlinks will not get you much, plus Google loves natural link building profile, so you need to diversify...article directories, real sites, even a few link exchanges as well as commenting, bookmarks, guest posting etc...
