It was a sad week in India and surely the worst week for the 10 day old baby's parents who lost their baby in the dirty game of politics. Read complete news: http://peacetimes.net/2010/02/10-day-old-infant-murdered-by-a-mob-in-kashmir/ humans have fallen to a level worst than animals!
This is devastating and yet so sadly familiar. I can't even understand why Muslims stone adults guilty of actual crimes - to try and comprehend why they would stone an infant is just.... It makes the world seem so much darker, so much colder than it really is. We need a story about some idiots blowing themselves up again; knowing there are less of them somehow makes things seem brighter. I'm an Atheist so I don't believe in any god(s) - but my thoughts are certainly with the parents and especially the young brother, who will undoubtedly be very troubled for the rest of his life.
How do you know it has got anything to do with Muslims? If you actually read the article instead. may be it won't be so dark. Stone throwing was a form of opposition to the government, has got nothing to do with religion.
Yeah this is strange. I expected people to read the article and pay condolence to the little infant, instead here people begin to directly jump on religion! This is seriously strange. If a debate is going to spark here, i would request moderators to take of this thread! sadly, we don't even pay proper condolences!! :-(
crap! Another sad story... Just saw another thread in DP with a 8 year old girl got murdered http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1705879
It is terrible that these things happen all over the world. Especially to babies. it is also sad that we jump straight to religion.
Yes sam, its really sad. Though killing of innocents cannot be stopped, the only way to stop it is by avoiding pointing fingers on religions. Religions don't cause violence, its the politics that use religion that causes violence and killing of innocents.
Wow this is horrible... I look forward to the day when people like this can resolve disputes without murdering anyone who stands in their way. Killing a defenseless infant is absolutely atrocious.
Sorry for bumping this thread but I felt compelled to answer. I agree that it is not religion that causes these things, but the politics. The issue is that generally religion comes with politics. Especially the major religions. When they are taught, they are taught with politics. So religion has a lot of bad impacts because of the Church, not the religion.
I'm going to have to disagree with you, unless you believe islamic/sharia law has nothing to do with religion. In today's world, I do believe that the only stoning that takes place legally is done under islamic law -- in places such as Somalia, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, United Arab Emirates.
I think those who killed the innocent baby they don't have mercy on that 10 yr old baby. I think there hand, legs and tongue should be cut and threw them in water.
I can't think of anyone I would wish that on. Anyway, it looks like 6 have been arrested, and charged with murder. I've been seeing conflicting reports. Reports say it was husband, wife, 3 yr. old, and infant. The husband and wife were ok, the 3 yr. old was hit by stone in head but was ok, then is some versions it says the mother dropped the infant by accident killing him (because of being overwhelmed by all the stone throwing). Then, they proceeded to take 3 yr. old and infant to hospital. They were able to leave the scene after the incident. The reason I mention this is that it may not have been the stone pelters intention to kill (or maybe it was), I don't know. It doesn't excuse what they did at all, but many times the sentence is different based on intention.
What you are telling may be true but they should at least see that there are kid's with the parents and if this people will not be punished than more incidents will happen again.
Really bad news. first 2 members did not read the article properly ... Don't know whether I can see in this life J&K free from all these things!
I'm not in any way insinuating they not be punished, just saying it seems to be a really complex situation. It looks like stone pelting is a common event in Kashmir, seemingly with security forces as their usual target. Here's an article saying Kashmir valley's stone pelters are graduating to petrol bombs, and another saying stone pelting is a lucrative business that offers pay for youth to throw stones. Then I've also found some quotes from actual stone pelters here and here.
I would say that islamic/sharia law is more politics than it is religion. The church is the one that determines these things, and they modify society to the way they want it. The people are manipulated by the religious institution, not the religion it self. Christianity has the same issues. All the things that are really bad about the Religion, are all church doctrines and politic related issues.
The reason for my point of view is that islamic/sharia law is based on quran and hadith (life of mo). Islamic/sharia law is more politics than religion, in the same sense that islam itself is more politics than religion. No, not even Al Gore.
