Matt Cutts did say that google prefers dashes.
As far as I know he did not specify how they interpret underscores though.

I already answered your question right in this thread.

A simple look at PRweb's own site will tell you what he said isn't correct. As for whether $11 is still acceptable, someone would have to try it and report back. As usual, PRweb is anything but transparent in their pricing options, so you won't know until you try.

    Will, Thanks!

I agree that the rest dont quite fit a common "VIRAL" theme but as far as how they work, it IS viral.

When i say viral i'm referring to doing one thing that gets multiple generations of effect.

    1 press release can
    get onto googlenews then
get sent to 10000s of email inboxes of which
100s will forward onto friends/colleagues who may
actually blog about it and the cycle
    starts again.

6 generations. That's MY definition of viral

    Great tips!

What forms of payment does PRweb accept? Do they accept PayPal?

I couldn't find anything on their site.

I don't think you know what viral marketing is. None of them are really viral marketing apart from 8.

Another viral marketing technique is "tell a friend".

That's kinda like me saying my definition of breathing is banging my head against a wall. Saying it doesn't make it so. :)

Good, common sense tips, but as has been stated only #8 is actually viral.

    Thanks for the reply.

You said it perfectly when you used the term, "policies." It is currently possible to get less than $80 releases today but this is not guaranteed to be the case tomorrow because as a matter of policy, our pricing begins at $80. It just taking some time for the mechanics of the platform to catch up.

    In the mean time, enjoy!

Yes, it is true. The pricing begins at $80 per release. As noted in my other post here, there is a time now where you can still technically get the platform to accept less than $80 on a release but realize two things, 1) this won't last forever and 2) it may end tomorrow. ;) .

I still am not sure what you mean about phbb forums being seo un-friendly. I see their pages in the big G quite often.

That's because you can make them search engine friendly and I believe that a url doesn't need every keyword stuffed into it to make it search engine friendly.

A url like: http://domainname.com/games/1.html is search engine friendly.

So the reason that PRWeb is less than transparent with their pricing is because they are in the middle of changing it? Why not just change it?

I know that I use PRWeb alot and it's because I can afford to do so. If it goes to $80 I'll have to find some other way to get out my message. That stinks! :(

I wouldn't really blame PRWeb for charging $80 per press release. Infact, if that is the minimum it is more than less likely to improve their service. The reasons why they are probably charging this amount is because when they had a free service you always get hit by the spammers and people submitting press releases that don't even look like a PR and also have many spelling and grammer errors.

Don't forget, PRWeb is just like most of us that are making money. They have to make money to. Buy charging this amount it will mean that there is a higher chance that most of the crap that gets submitted to PRweb will not be submitted anymore and only the people that are serious about their business will submit their press releases and this will catch on with the news sites and other people that may want to include your press release links in their site.

I would add another point. If you have fun doing what you are doing, then success will come.

If you consider webdesign/marketing a job, then after some time you will lose motivation. If you take it as experience (even if you learn without earning any significant $) initially then it won't become a burden.

    In other words passion helps.

I agree with you. But I also treat mine as a business / job. I need to take it seriously as this is my only source of income. I have spent 4 years working online and I have had some bumpy rounds and times when my computer nearly got smashed up. lol.

The reason why I am still working online today is because I have a passion doing it. I really enjoy it and I like the fact that you don't have bosses telling you what to do and the more you work and the better you work and the more good ideas you have the more money you will make.
