$10,000 To Invest! I Need Help!

    Hi All,

    Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

    ::Here's My Issue::

    Last year I was in a car accident (fully recovered thankfully) and recieved a settlement that gave me enough money to erase my credit card debt and pad my bank account with a little over $10,000.

    When I graduate in 2 1/2 years I will have the pleasure of paying off $40,000 in student loans. Is there any way that I can invest the $10k and get a great enough return to pay off my loans by the time I graduate?...gambling and whoring myself aside of course.

    I get a 6 month grace period after I graduate before I have to start paying, so that leaves me with a solid 3 years to invest.

    Looking forward to your advice because this money is burning a hole in my pocket!

    ::My Background::

    I have knowledge and experience in;
    - Industrial Design
    - Graphic Design
    - Web Design/Animation
    - Commissioned Artwork
    - Home Remodeling
    - Ebay sales / dropshipping

    I would say either get in the forex market by using certain powerful software or start selling ebooks for words that are searches 1,000-5,000 a month. You'll make money fast.

    Plenty of online ways to make money, but most come down to work and time. Check out market place on this and other webmaster forums and you may find some sites for sale, be careful though as some may not be what they seem.

    VentureBrothers save the money for now, and don't use it until you is 100% certain of what you want to do with it. You should spend the next several months-to a year or more learning about starting a online business (there is risk) or how/where to invest your money. (there is risk)

    You can also begin to save for retirement, because the earlier you begin saving for retirement the better for you in the future.

    Discuss your short term financial goals with a Certified Financial Planner. You will get much better advice with a CFP then from people on a forum! :D

    Thanks Windtalker and snowbird! GOOD ADVICE!

    There must be a lot of people who deal with a lot of dumb$hits that just hand them money because I'm getting way too many "partnership offers" from way to many "trusting" people who have never even met me! nor do they even offer any phone numbers to contact them! My favorite is when they take hours of my ball busting, tell me yes yes yes, and then when i say send me your projections and a business proposal they dissapear! Watch out on here everyone, i saw a thread about craigslist fraud today...maybe someone should make one for D.P.

    Why not start a couple blogs about things you know a lot about. Cheap investments, low risk, just time, and since you have 3 years to pay off your loan , you'd be risking very little money and in those 3 years your blog value would go up and you would earn money as well. Since you know a lot about web design and all, why not start a site promoting your services and spend some money in adwords to get the word out. There are tons of ways to make money. If you want to you can add me on AIM or MSN and I can help you get started on a blog and best of all I won't charge you for it! MSN: Hamik112 ( at) Gmail.com and AIM: Str8ruthl3ss

    I'm a trusted person (*hint*, *hint*, *hint.*) so please invest in my trustworthy name :)

    Jokes aside, if I had a business plan I might be offering it to your consideration, although I'm in the process to write down one to establish my publishing business.

    However, my real advice is put that money in the bank and think with cool head before deciding. Forex is only worth if you know the currency market and involves a risk.

    In any case, real estate is better investment, but $10,000 is too little, unless you find a way on your own, such as a foreclosure deal or something like that.

    trusted wirter- that's a really good idea. I hadn't even thought about that

    with all the forclosures, you're bound to find a good apartment/house that you can buy and let sit- then resell when the market turns around.

    I'm not really into real estate- but I know that its something like that

    Why not set something up to earn enough residual income to pay off the loan over time.

    You could probably spend $1000 and a few hours a week over the next couple years... aim for a diverse network of websites making $6000 per year.

    Earning $500 per month is much less daunting / risky than looking for a sure fire way to quadruple your money in 3 years - plus you get to keep most of your initial money.

    A popular affiliate directory just finished publishing an 8 part series on how to make $1000 per month online -- it's free to read, and I think they suggest you start with as little as $400.
