10.000 places issue

    In the hope of understanding ( if such a thing is possible :) ) the way google works regarding keyword ranking, I watched about 30 keywords for my site on a day to day basis. I have noticed something strange.

    Keywords, or searchphrases that are listed somewhere in the google serps, the place could range from 4 to endless, drop all of a sudden and always with the strange amount of nearly 10.000. ( like 9995, 9804 and so on ).

    It happens with kw that are on old pages as well with kw that are new for my site.

    after a few days they rise again for about the same amount.

    Someone has an idea what this could be?

    When the rank is below your default, it appears as a drop to 9999.
