10,000 craigslist emails

I have 10k CL emails, what can I do with them? I want to somehow advertise my site but I don't want to get it banned from the search engines or even adsense. Is their a legitimate way to go about doing this? If so, how?

EDIT: Just thought I should let you know, the emails are from the Job area of CL.

I suggest you first try to get the people to double opt-in; otherwise, your emails will be spam. Follow can-spam rules and get a double-opt in strategy before using the emails.

You don't really have to bother for that number. Spam abuse relates to it, but the number is too small for a legal attack as long as you use the right kind of mailing service and you send your e-mails once in a while.

How did you get these emails?
If you bought them or, if you collected them off the site then what you can do is get rid of them. Using harvested emails is spam no matter what anyone says.

TheVccMatey is talking out of his rear telling you not to worry about it.
It is not him that will be at risk. You should never run the risk of getting a reputation as a spammer.

    Yes,

You can avoid SPAM in many way,
double-opt-in is one of the best and easiest method I think.

    Kind Regards,

I'm more of the belief that better be safe then sorry, might as well build a quality double opt-in list people want to get content from. Net users DO open spam, that's fact, but double opt-in conversions are 5-7x better. :)

Spam rules are different from country to country. I doubt you could sell the list for much but if you want to mail it and you are in the US make sure the email is canspam compliant.

Did you buy these emails or did you get them from making job postings yourself?

Since they are people looking for jobs, why not send them to an offer such as sites that allow you to post your resume? You will get a commission and they will be shown a site where they can potentially find a job. I know Commission Junction has a few resume sites that work like this.

You could also go onto Black Hat World and sell them if you're into that kinda stuff. Since CL marketing is huge for black hat methods, you should be able to get a decent amount of money for 10,000 emails. People over there are buying and selling Craigs List emails all the time.

Basically anything you do with them is going to be against the law.. Considering you're asking this question means that you're not gong to know how to cover your tracks.. CAN SPAM laws are pretty strict.. There's nothing wrong with email marketing as long as they give you the email address to begin with.

My advice, don't play around with that unless you know what you're doing.. And I'm not just talking about covering your tracks from the email server side, but also blanking referrers to affiliate programs, etc.. Just my two cents

That is right.. you do not have permission to send any email to that list.. you can not send emails to that list directly without breaking the law and getting a lot of spam complains.. you can sponsor a campaign on my site though .. ;)
