I don't know if you guys have noticed but Google Wave doesn't seem to support emoticons. Google has always been hesitant about adding attractive emoticons(smileys) to all its services God knows why. Even gtalk doesn't support them. Here is an Official statement by Google about Wave : But how will that be enjoyed when you just can't share expressions through smileys?
My guess is that what they mean.. Is that its supposed to look professional... There must be some kind of extension that you can add though... I will do a search for one... Sometimes you can add a robot to the conversation to do that. For example you can add Kanye West (bot) to the converse to hear stupid comments.. But, I'm sure support for that will eventually come.. Google is just stubborn!
iv just started using wave and thats the 1st thng that caught my eyes!! wssup wid Google not supporting emoticons!!
Add the emoticony robot, works fine: http://emoticony.leestone.co.uk/ But I agree this should be enabled by default. Misja
WTH! I havnt used wave yet..but...EMOTICONS! they r the backbone of online conversations. w/o them its hard to get the other persons 'tone' (sarcasm/seriousness/joke/disparity/etc) Obviously there will be add-ons, but that doesnt change anything! why the heck is google hesitant of emoticons :/
