1 unique article on multiple directories/sites

I'm just curious, lets just say I created one unique article and then submitted to 1000 directories, is this a good or bad thing to do SEO wise as there would be multiple pages with same article on it?

Posting an article on 1000 directories has zero effect on seo.

 

If that's true, then how comes people sell this service?

you'll get the best results if you take the time to make the article unique each time you submit it.

 

An article is no longer "unique" if it is produced thousands of times over. Unique would refer to an article written by you and submitted to one place, making this place the only place to have this article. Use a niche article directory or EzineArticles to submit to.

1000 is too much. You should alter your article and give the crisp and clear points to the user.

Your article is for visitors not for SE's. so do not worry about that.

 

It's a waste of time, really ... there are not even 500 article directories worthy to spend time on ... though you should submit your article to some good ones ... ezine, easyarticles, etc
