Hi, I started up http://www.ps3.ie and http://www.ps3-leagues.co.uk seperatly about 5 months ago. One on the .ie domain extension for Ireland and the other for the uk searches. They were fairly different at the beginning but them i decided to run them off the same database so now everything is prity much the same on both sites, even the forums. Does anyone know if this will get me penalized by google for duplicate content? I dont really want to setup a 301 redirect from one of the domains as it does well in ireland because of the .ie domain. Thanks
yep, that should count as duplicate content and will get you some negatives from google....I would change the wording or do something so that they are not the same word for word.
I can change the main site pages alot but the forum's will still be exactly the same. Hmmmmm..... what to do, what to do
I'm not sure. I went to a sigchi conference on interaction desing the other day - and the marketing guy (in an SEO workshop) actually advised to also target your market with the corresponding IP ... But as for duplicate content - sure would be nice if it were Chinese and English, then you wouldn't even have to consider this. One option would be to make a 'start' page on both the domains. One can never be sure how it'll work though. But there has to be ways of handling this, all large corps have multi english language|location and a s***load of duplicate content.
