No one has said where the revenue is coming from.
If you have one site making $100/day with adsense, chances are your traffic is pretty high, therefore you'd also be able to monetize the site in other ways (banner subscriptions, text links etc) if anything happened to your adsense account, since that site has alot of traffic.
With 100 small sites with very little traffic, if you lose adsense then you can pretty much say goodbye to any forms of future revenue unless you build those sites up.

I started with many sites few years back and what I found out with some sites I cant go beyond certain $$, so I started similar sites and that does help because you know most of the rules and you have all resources. So 2nd $$ was about 30% effort. but managing more then 10-15 active sites are almost impossible. thats my 2 cents.

10sites making $10 each would be better for your wallet :p

Me and my cousin used overture to get sites which would get traffic already, placed videos and content on, and that one site is on $5 a day already from 12 hits a day!

I focus on a few big sites, but I don't use Adsense. I've found that there are far better ways of making money than Adsense (for most sites), as people are paying for leads for a reason. If the same traffic is willing to purchase things from these other sites, you are losing out on money when you could be offering what they want on your site.

With that said, my main sites can take in several hundred to a thousand or more dollars a day. Instead of focusing on tons of sites, I only focus on a few and try to make them more and more profitable. That's my key to success anyway.

Its hard to maintain 5 sites with fresh content let alone 100. I would rather concentrate my effort on a few sites.

I would say that 1 site is easier to manage that 100. 100/day from 1 site is easier that jumping back and forth through 100.

Wouldn't starting to manage 5 sites be quite an investment? 5 domain names, would you need five different hosting accounts? I believe I could manage buying the domain names but hosting for each...I'd think about it initially since I wouldn't be generating any revenue anytime soon.

Is there any good site to buy such hosting/domains in bulk to save money?

Depends what you're qualities are. If you can only squeeze out a dollar a day, make hundreds of sites. If you're good at brand/blog building focus on a few sites.

This is all entirely theoretical and depends on the situation.

Managing 100 websites is no simple task - but at the same time it's often risky to put all your eggs in one basket. Having a few different sites isn't the worst thing in the world, as long as you can maintain your focus. Once you start to lose focus of what you're doing - and the sites start to slump - then there may not be any income.

Perhaps the best approach would be to focus all your energy on one site until it's a well oiled machine, and THEN start to expand into other areas. Otherwise you are just going to be spinning plates... and the more plates there are, the tougher it is to keep them all spinning :)

I like to build 10-15 sites so that I have a well diversified amount of income sources, and i can put the proper amount of time and effort into each one. I couldn't imagine that many people effectively manage 100 sites, or that anyone with the ability to get 100 per day out of one would just stop at one site.

I think it's better to stick with something in the middle as others have mentioned. 5-10 sites that generate 10$/day + should be enough money for your investment without clogging your time. Also, If you plan on making websites on a large scale consider hiring an article writer (order in bulk) at least that way it's actually somewhat useful and unique content. That way you won't be "spamming the internet" ;)

one site is better because of so many reasons

easier to manage, better chance of success, usually more quality than many small sites...

I will prefer 1 site $100/day. Coz managing 100 sites is a tedious task though i am lazy too. So concentrate on 1 site and earn more.

Why don't you make that 100 become 100$/day too??
hahaha... if me i will take the 100 sites and i develop it one by one. then hire someone to manage it.
    I wish i could

i will prefer 1 site making 100/day, until you satisfy
then only replicate the same method for another site
