#1 ranking with directory listings only?

Is it possible to rank #1 in google by gettig backlinks from free quality directories using your anchor text and the proper category only?

Example of a site:

categorie sports/
link: best sports site
and a description.


Is this possible?

 

depends on the anchor text and whether your competition is doing the same thing (or more).

 

So google does not ban for multiple directory listings.

 

well, since other people (or the directory owners themselves) can add your site, there is no way google will ban you just for that.

 

I was not clear in my post, does google give good credit for link building done with directory submissions.

I guess I am asking that because I searched for a certain term in google and most of the top sites are not even listed in directories.

They have a lot of links from regular sites. Most of the sites linking dont even look professional.

 

yeah, well the reason why most sites are in the top in their keywords is because of more "natural" links.

 

it tottaly depends on the KW, you can get #1 on G with nothin if they target kw has no competition
